These cars were never originally sold in America, but thanks to the 25 year law we can bring em in starting now! We’ve got cars and trucks from Japan, Europe, and even Australia. This is The D-List!

These cars don't dissolve (well, some of them might) they will still be around when you are older and not so broke, just like the majority of people sometimes you have to wait for stuff, gives you something to aim for. Did i want big fast saloon when I was 17? yes. Did I have one? No, I had a crappy 1.3 Ford Escort. Do I have an AMG car now I'm MUCH older? Yes.

It was like 5hp more, and only because of things you'll be removing anyway once you start modding it. It did have nice seats though.

@@albertbravo1716 It was much more! I have all 3 versions. The 96+ has twin oil coolers, better intake, better 16bit ecu, bigger brakes, turbo, etc. Then again everything is RHD in my country, so might be a concern.

@@worldpeace8824 the 93s have twin oil coolers too if you have an R1 model. The ecu, intake, and other things get swapped out anyway. Only real difference is the brakes honestly.

6:04 : The engine is a stroked version of the Australian 304 V8 - IIRC it is 355 Cubic inches - we didnt get LS1 motors here until a lot later.

Just FYI the GTS-R doesn't have an LS1, it actually has a stroked version of the Holden 5L V8, which is a completely home grown Australian designed and built engine. No Holdens got the LS1 until the VT Series II in 1999.

I thought both the 5.7/320-350/ horse/ and the 6 liter /400 horse/ were US LS engines..Yes we were able to buy BOTH in Canada and the US..The last ones were going for less than $20K with very,very low millage. I was thinking of picking one up myself..but you can only have so many cars, before your wife wants a new broom too..

G'day from the land downunder! The HSV VS GTSR actually came with a HSV 5.7-litre '350ci Harrop Stroker' V8 based off the Australian 5l v8 not the ls1. the ls1 came out in Australia in the year 2000 in the VT commodore. Love the vids!

I am from New Zealand. Legnum VR4 is my fav car, had three of them. They did a Face lift in 2008 though which is the one you showed. The face lift one looks better and has some minor upgrades. Best handling car I have ever driven.

Fun fact: a Mitsubishi Legnum VR-4 came up for sale on Facebook marketplace last year for only $4,000 here in Australia. I didn’t know what the car was until now but damn. It was in the purple colour also. Such a shame.

Im not in the US (In NZ), Recently bought a glant VR-4 Type-S and it id the most fun car ive ever had. extremely underrated, yes there is a few other cars you could get for the price but atleast it aint another evo you see everywhere. also it is very reliable i havent had any problems and common issues are quite rare and easy to fix.

good luck getting a gtsr, those things are rare af and expensive af even in aus. They have what's called the bogan tax, kind of like the drift tax but for old aussie muscle cars.

@@MrJumpyJ It's a 1997 Legnum VR4 Type S with the AYC diff the only problem is that it's an auto but I would do a manual conversion in the future.

@@fredc.8527 i used to own one and the auto is the best auto of the 90s. though beware fluid is recommended to need changing every 25k km and there is only one known atf that wont wreck it, amsoil atf. Check out clubvr4 for more info.

Hey James, nice vids you done! It's funny and pretty good information shared! Just one comment about the Legnum VR4, It has indeed a twin turbo, but it doesn't actually share components from 3000 GT VR4, Legnum I believe it uses a 6A13TT 2.5 l engine with a pair of TD03 turbos, the 3000 GT VR4 uses the 6G72 3.0 l with a pair of TD04 turbos, although the Legnum platform is very efficient and delivers a good "HRSPS" and "TRKS" too!!! Be safe, and keep bringing those nice vids!

My fellow Americans who is with me on that Nissan Stagea? I've always wanted one of these. They look amazing and with that drive train I can only imagine how fast they are. I remember while living in Japan. A military patrol unit pulling up in what I thought was a Hummer. The reason I say thought is I now think it was that Toyota Mega Cruiser. Glanza are beautiful. I have one for 10 years now. If you can, get one, you're gonna love it. It really is fast. You hear about 400hp+ starlets but that's overkill. If you ever get one of these, set it to 250 hp with a stiff suspension and a rear strut bar. Its all you need for a race car. It is THAT amazing

In Canada, there is a 15 year wait. Where I live there is no emission rules, but right hand drive are banned. I'm not sure if it's possible, but converting to left hand drive would be a great series. Likely an insane amount of work.

I live in Canada so I've been seeing those 90s GTRs on the streets for a while now , I've seen some sell for as low as 8 grand Canadian , they all come with the steering wheel on the right side so prepare for that if you buy one ,

I've had a '98 Galant VR4 for years and it and the legnum are definitely best bang for buck on the list, though they'll probably skyrocket now ;P Expect maintenance to be expensive and parts to be hard to find, so quality is incredibly spotty as a result. Autos have the "learning" tiptronic that's actually pretty damn amazing. Also, AYC! Not enough love these cars because they're not stupid fast for the period and well because... boat.
