13$ one is probably a good start, especially for beginners. Sounds pretty good to, and the 1,000$ one doesn’t sound much different than from the 100$

The 13 dollar mic is a solid mic and I would 100% recommend it to any beginners

Being an audio engineer with many years of experience I love these videos. What's amazing about it is there is quite a difference between the microphones but when you start doing a lot of the modern processing techniques I bet you could use the $13 mic for a major record release and no one would ever know the difference. The second you auto tune the vocal the vocal ends up being partially synthetic and generated by the computer and will sound like a $13 mic was used in my opinion. I liked the Lewit it sounded great for the money

That Lewitt hit just right and its very affordable.

I’ve recorded 4 albums with 1 single $80 condenser mic and all instruments and vocals sound AMAZING, but a lot comes into play with getting a great sound. I recorded them all in an open 3 story house, I made a cardboard box shell around my drums to point the sound to the mic, I used my favorite 5w practice amp for guitar, same with bass, and recorded vocals in a shower with glass doors. So, every track had optimal recording possibilities. Editing the songs only took a few hours because of this and my first EP in total took 3 days to make and put in stores using that one mic. I called it “3D EP”(3 days & 3D art on the cover). You NEVER need to spend 1300$ on a microphone unless you want to just LOOK FANCY. The sound is up to you to make good or bad. Also, maybe you might want an expensive mic to pick up tiny micro sound waves such as in “ASMR” or whatever it is when people lick microphones and whisper….. to each their own I guess. But, yeah I’d say that $130 mic in this video could be used to produce professional albums ANYDAY!

I have the c414 myself but I gotta admit, the Lewitt is a great brand I recommend it to anyone starting out. No real need to go for the big name brand mics these days.

i feel like $13 gives a noisier(static) soft sound thats kinda similar to lofi, but $130 gives you a cleaner tone thats more pure and rich and from there you could modify it any way you wish. $1300 really is just more money lowkey

The most important thing i learned while choosing my Mic is that there is no difference after 100 dollar step.

Microphones are def one of those thins that have a huge point of diminishing returns. The sweetspot is from the 150-300 dollar range. Very little people can/will tell the difference between a $250 Rode NT1 and a $7,500 Neumann U67.

I like the style of the 13$ one better than the other 2 no matter that price

does 2 seconds of the akg 414 $1300 mic which for those two seconds sounded way clearer, the reason for the expensive mic is you use it in studios to cover all bases, yes they do sound similar on one voice but if you had a harmony group all singing into those mics the akg would perform the best, if your just doing stuff in your bedroom then go for the cheaper mics theres not much difference, but if your producing something thats going on an album to be sold to many people you want the best you can get.

If you raise the high end in the 13 dollar mic with an eq it’ll sound as good as the other two if not close

I think it all depends on what you're using the mic for. some cases you may need a higher quality mic and sometimes the cheaper one is best.

The $1300 mic has a little less muddyness but that can be fixed with eq so I'd say the $130 is good enough for most people.

For the average podcast back ground listener, there's no difference. The 130$ is somewhat better than the 13$ but the 1300$ is not worth the price

Its a huge difference when they are applied as over head mics on a drum set. The cheap mic's don't handle high SPL levels . (This rule doesn't apply to legendary $99 Sure SM57's) The C414 are awesome at picking up the cymbals.

What’s missing here (which fair enough, it’s a short) is that the c414 ($1300) has a wide variety of uses and patterns, it will sound great on most vox, drum OHs, keys, and more. The $13 mic isn’t absolutely terrible but sounds flimsy and probably wouldn’t record drum OHs or guitars well. The $130 mic sounds very clean and has a flat response (sounds like a slate digital emulator without a plug-in) but I’d see it in action with multiple scenarios before I could truly compare it to the c414.

The cheaper mics will always give you a lower tone for some reason. They just muffle /low pass your vox off rip. You gotta reverse the cut and add reverb with a low pass around 800+ and the high completely open.

The 2nd one was the best for me imo.

$130 one is the best for the capped budget. and if money doesn't matter then I'm gonna choose AKG

I think people listening to these comparisons and wondering why the $13 mic sounds good need to consider that it only sounds good when it's processed. Try using it in a live broadcast, without any processing, and then swap to the $130 microphone without processing and you will _know_ the difference.
