You wouldn't become blind if time stopped: the light would still be exactly where it was, so you would still be able to see all those things. You would have to make the light stop _existing_ for that, or you would have to move far enough away that the light from that thing hadn't reached that spot yet. Interestingly, if you had a telescope, and fast mobility, you could zoom towards something and it would appear to be moving even with time stopped, or you could zoom away from it and watch it move in reverse. You would probably have to travel at absurd speeds, but still.

You don't know gen x very well. Child beatings in school, in church, in home and by random person when you were caught being bad was common and the norm. Most of us was told don't come home till the street lights came on. No public assistance programs in most of the country. Parents didn't have money for power, food, water or rent oh well! If you had a pedo for a parent you were guaranteed being given back in 6 months in most cases. It continued even more brutal than before. School lunch program, sure if you had money. If you didn't you sat and waited with the poor kids starving. If you were bullied nobody gave a sh@t including your parents. The only reason we didn't have schools shootings was half the kids had rifles in their cars. And that's just the beginning of gen x.
