Mental Health Treatment

3 роки тому

Raul Contreras of the Philippines (who became a crisis communication expert), Yoriko Konishi of Japan (became a sociologist and author, see her book at: amzn.to/3m3t3Vf #ad), Ratnati Iskandar Dinata of Indonesia (daughter of Indonesian national hero, became wife of a diplomat), and Judith Reader of UK (not much known about her) are the participants in this discussion. The two girls are not as fluent in English as some of the other participants, but the conversation is still very engaging and insightful.

UPDATE ON THE PARTICIPANTS: Judith Reader's conversion to Catholicism deeply shaped her life's trajectory. In 1977 she participated in a documentary centered on her Catholic faith, embarking on a journey with her family to Rome. Now in her 80s, Judith remains an active and devoted member of her church. Yuriko Meguro followed an academic path, becoming a distinguished professor of sociology and emerging as a leading scholar in gender studies in Japan. Her contributions extended beyond academia as she served as the UN representative in Japan on women's issues. She is alive, and is quite "hip" with blue hair! Rarnati pursued her passion for literature, majoring in the subject at an Indonesian university and later earning another degree in France. Her life took an international turn as she married a diplomat, though she passed away many years ago. Raul Contreras found his niche in public relations, working for the Playtex Bra company. His expertise even led him to serve as an advisor to President Aquino of the Philippines. Sadly, Raul passed away in 2012 at the age of 72 due to complications from Lupus.

@connorstar164
@connorstar164 3 місяці тому
That was the evolving or in there case devolving of prejudice to racist, prejudice is formulated by actions and conduct I don’t like the way people do things differently, racist, is based on how someone looks like visually, color, she highlighted the color aspect red signifies danger, or harm, so this g prejudice but racist, this is why most Europeans didn’t click with Africans or Arabs not because of their cultures but basically what skin tone they were, black or dark is symbolizes evil in a Europeans mind set, so they seen it as bad, that’s why they didn’t allow for intermarriage, they seen brown as dirty, and white as clean it’s a color spectrum they looked at, this is why Japanese who adopted this ideologies have so much skin lightening creams, because to them lighter means more higher class, they can deny this all they want, but it’s their ideology which what changed them, the Japanese girl, is only saying that about white people, is because they look more like her, light skinned, not because they’re behaviors are on par with attributes around the table. Is why the Bible and Quran, broke a lot of barriers and teaches ethics and principles over colorism, for the prophets like Jeremiah says man looks on the outward appearance and God looks at the heart and intentions, Muhammad says no white man is inferior ti a black man, no black man is inferior to a white man, nor is a Arab inferior ti either or superior to either only by actions, conduct and deeds. Pretty much the right way of doing things. Evolution is a ideology that’s backs racism, because you look at animals to gauge our behaviors, thence you become like animals, carnal, we are not animals but spiritual beings based on attributes of the Gods we serve. Even in the theologies, those who try to embody European Gods, who are war like, Aries, Zeus, ect, they behave like them, cruel, barbaric and inhumane, those who embody eastern Gods, Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, are benevolent gods, forgiving and loving, they become the same, you are what you follow. The Abrahamic God, is also very merciful, giving and promotes life, therefore serving and trying to embody Elohim or Yahweh or Allah, you become like him. Our religions are filled with some of the best ethics, principles and attributes, that have timeline trial and error to learn from, what to embody and what not to, but if we rely on these concept ideologies, like evolution we lose all merit because we rely on things that have no merit to them, evolution is a concept idea, that has no actual merit if principles behind them to grab from. Plus evolution even in itself is trying to by pass a lot of facts and claim it for their own by ignoring the context and content to suit their views.

That's unfortunate, the toxicity and vague tendencies of online and irl Culture of modern day Filipinos is something I wish could change within us I mean I know that today's standards have change but looking back people in the 1950s-70s were a lot more well refined and educated considering they didn't even had the internet yet idk. Another thing is people in my country have a sort of Smart shaming or Pabida/Bida-bida in tagalog where people who are more active in class are socially looked down upon for being too vocal about their intelligence or just having more confidence during oral reports or activities which for me as having been experienced it for 4 years really did a big impact for my self-esteem I was so self conscious and also gave me social anxiety but as the years past I just managed to full out their cold and paralyzing gazes as I would rather end it with a big bang rather than to submit to everyone else's agenda

This conversation about this topic is so much more intellectually honest and genuine than any conversation today about race and prejudice. If everyone in academia could be this honest, we would all be in a much better place. Instead of using the label of “racist” as a way to shut down speech and silence discourse, we would all do well to humbly admit that EVERYONE has misguided prejudices, and be able to grow and move forward together from there. Those who self-righteously throw the “racist” label around at others are totally blind to their own prejudices.

Extremely impressed with the calmness in this debate. Even when the Filipino guy straight up said that he had prejudiced against the Japanese, when a Japanese girl is literally sitting next to him, everyone lets him talk and explained his points. The Japanese girl is even willing to understand and acknowledge the reason behind such prejudice. Even when the British girl was cornered due to her "Asians being lazy" statement, no one raises their voices against each other. This is an extremely beautiful debate.
