Very nice . It would look even better in Panther Pink . It would really transform the car and putting in a hemi would be badass. Cragar SS always look great on a classic mopar .

Closer look at your car: You're very lucky your front grille seems intact, those are super expensive to replace. Also had to laugh that your car has a '71 Charger steering wheel, mine does too. I changed mine because I don't personally like the '70 steering wheel, you look like a bus driver with that steering wheel. LOL Good luck with your resto plans.

Not sure why anyone would put anything but a 440 in one of these as a replacement.

@@Orcinus1967 ..I have a 69 Charger original 318 but restored to R/T with a 440 Magnum (525 hp) I rebuilt multiple 440's in the same specs and had 5 dyno'd as the owners wanted it to be and all within a few hp plus or minus.. I also have a f-8 green 70 Charger 500 original 383 Magnum(orange engine) rebuild on a stand and it has a 71 383 stroker thats 496 cu.in and nearly 630 hp and 670 torque! It's a beast..Both cars look bone stock in/out and engine all looking stock as can be,I like 100% factory look but if the engine is pooched,I rebuild it with more power..

@mypronouniswtf5559 I’ll have to check my Chrysler factory books but I don’t think a 383 magnum got put in a Charger tell 71 but a 70 383 4BL car in 1970 had more HP then a 1971 383 magnum if I remember right. But I also have heard that a 1970 charger could have gotten on if it was a 4sp car, but I’ve never seen it proven with a hp stamp on engine and vin stamp matching to car. But I’m not sayin it can’t happen. 1968 was the best compression at 10:1, after that it dropped to 9.5:1 but most really had 9.2:1. My 1968 charger when rebuilt was 10:1, but because of piston selection today it dropped to 9.66:1 to be accurate in the rebuild. Didn’t want to goof around with and milling work done on the engine or the 906 heads except a mild porting. Granite I might have a few things wrong because my mechanical skill a moderate to low so that what the engine builder told me. I had to much coffee today lol. Love to see your cars!

@@mypronouniswtf5559 Ah yes. The 383. I guess my intended point was, why replace with a 318 when you could go with a larger engine? Looks like you have it covered! Thanks for the reply.

@@carebear2272 You're a bit off with your memories. 383's were in a TON of second-gen Chargers and B-Bodies in general. The last year for the 383 was 1971, but it was a bit down in horsepower from 1970, 300 instead of 335 for the 4-bbl. My '70 is all original numbers-matching and has the 383 Magnum, which is the high performance version with 4-bbl carb and other upgrades from the 383 2-bbl version.

Wow, 500 doesn’t really make it rare because it’s just an emblem trim option for 1970, but factory pink in a 1970 charger 500 never see one. Be nice to find a 71 400 cold weather bock for it, 318 is probably long gone so you couldn’t truly restore it.
@carebear2272

It’s is the biggest bore diameter of any big block, the cast is more heavy duty then any block with reinforced webbing and main bearings, it’s the early blocks though 71, 72. You can bolt on 383 magnum stuff on it like I’m pretty sure 906 heads and intake and I’m pretty sure and forged factory internals from an early 383. Anyway you have to read about it, or any 400 block. I plain on keeping a look out for one for charger because it looks just like a 383 and store my numbers matching block away.
@carebear2272
@carebear2272 2 місяці тому
Just saying keep a look out for a 400, probably the best block out there for a charger to build, my opinion it’s a better block for the money then a 383, 440, or even a hemi. I’m seen them go for $700 to $900 on eBay, the earliest was a 72 casting.

I get that it was pink, but the previous owner screwed the pooch when they painted over panther pink.... Pretty sure they run $75k to $200k for panther pink chargers. Smh.
@drippinglass

All that matters is if the fender tag says FM3. Personally, I wouldn’t want a pink one. Too big a car for that color. On a Challenger or ‘Cuda… yeah.

This is ironic for me because my '70 Charger was originally this same olive green color and I hated the color. Irony is overpainting a Panther Pink car with this ugly green color! I prefer a more emerald green. Take this one back to PP for sure.
