0 to 130 mph acceleration run in my 1991 Eagle Talon All Wheel Drive turbo. This was performed on a closed course. The car weighs 3,300 lbs with driver, runs on 93 octane w/ alcohol injection and has air conditioning.
Modifications include a Forced Performance 68 HTA turbocharger, Magnus intake manifold, ShepTrans.com rebuilt transmission, HKS 272 cams, 880cc fuel injectors and a 3" turbo-back exhaust. See pictures, build stories and a list of modifications at talon.turbomirage.com

stock vs stock the mustang is more fast 435hp vs 200hp loll comme on.. and If I put a turbo with just 15 psi you can have about 800hp in the mustang 5.0 loll you dont can compare a small 2.0 with a 5.0.. its easyly big hp for same psi the 5.0 mustang produce alot more:) loll

Thanks again Jimmy! It all depends on the condition of the engine and how well it's been maintained throughout its life. I personally wouldn't rev past stock redline unless I had the necessary valvetrain components and other modifications to reliably do it. These motors don't need to be revved high to make good power. Good luck!

@vettefan77 Thanks! I've recently installed a 4 bolt rear in there, thankfully. I'm still forced to baby it in 1st gear though, as it will smoke the tires if I'm any more aggressive than this. Hey Tom! First off just wanna say, this video right here inspired me to get a DSM as my first car back in 2012! Got a 1G Plymouth laser, loved it! What I wanted to ask you is, what setup did you find the most fun if you had to build it again, and best reliability
@TomsTurboGarage
@TomsTurboGarage 13 років тому
@tomlawtsiawd Thanks! It's an excellent all-around turbo that is likely the right size for 97% of DSM owners out there. I don't have any dyno numbers, but based on the 1/8 mile trap speed of 104mph and race weight of a little over 3300lbs with driver, it's making north of 500hp to the wheels.
@TomsTurboGarage
@TomsTurboGarage 11 років тому
It's a ShepTrans stage 3 transmission, ACT 2600 clutch setup. FYI the info is on my website too.
@TomsTurboGarage
@TomsTurboGarage 11 років тому
Thanks man! Yes, the engine is built to handle these revs. Also, the tach seems behind/slow, as my datalogger usually shows shifts at 9200rpm when the tach indicates approximately 8500rpm. That said, DSMs don't need super high rpms to make power, they can make tons of power with a stock rev limiter.

The evo 3 16g is an excellent turbo. The one I am running is very different as it requires a completely different T3 based manifold and exhaust routing setup. It's also physically larger, which means slower response, but better peak power. Good luck with your car and just maximize what you have there. You have the parts to make lots of power!
@TomsTurboGarage
@TomsTurboGarage 11 років тому

about 5-6 times while approaching those deer, to warn all drivers behind me we may be stopping, then the deer ran on to the road, i slowed down pretty fast, not crazy, but fast..then checked my mirror, to see him coming at me. I went to work an hour or so later with ONLY a sore arm from hanging on to the steering wheel so hard. The Talon/Eclipse/Lasers actually have quite a bit in common with the Grand National. Also, these cars aren't typically defined as "rice" as they were built in the USA and the owners rarely made superficial, cosmetic modifications- and instead focused on horsepower gains, which these cars respond very well to. Also, I love many types of cars. The Grand National is a different animal than a 600hp AWD Talon and that's what makes them both great!
