I have said this many times, on many channels, and I will say it here again. I love and appreciate it when you see a man spending time with his children bonding, showing them different things, teaching, them, being a positive influence in their life. I find it something awesome, in a world where men and fathers are more absent then not, and a set of values that ashamedly, should be a return to norm.

Been watching Andy's channel for a spell and now I've discovered yours, and I'm glad I did! First things first, you could show Andy a thing or two about how to properly split wood, great technique young man! Andy is just downright dangerous with any blade in his hand, and his round splitting technique where he brings the axe "up and around from the side" is just downright dangerous! You do everything, and I mean everything correctly. You have a large station to work on, you put the piece you're splitting closer to the back than the middle, you keep your feet perfectly squared, and you measure it up before each stroke, and last but certainly not least, you bring the axe STRAIGHT UP AND STRAIGHT DOWN with whatever strength the Good Lord gave you. Andy could learn from watching you split wood. I truly enjoy what you guys do and have watched loads of Andy's videos, but when he breaks out his axe for splitting the larger rounds I have to fast forward about a minute or so. He "almost" uses proper technique when splitting smaller rounds. He never did say exactly HOW he cut his thumb a while back, but I truly wasn't surprised, the man is dangerous with an axe (no offense Andy, just saying...I still love you mate!). Many young people learn from guys like you and Andy, and swinging a blade is no joke, well done Sir! Hello to Archie.

New subscriber here! Loved this video. The moment after dinner when you sat back in your chair with a beer and a book in front of stove literally exuded peace! Isn’t it wonderful? I just did my first solo 2 night up in the Catskills this past weekend, and reading in front of the fire with a glass of mead was pure heaven! I work in NYC so I need these weekends to reset and decompress in the woods!

I also found you through Andy. You boys are a hoot together lol. I love watching and catching up on your videos. I grew up camping but haven't been in probably 20 years. Thanks to you guys I have new goals for 2024!

Hot 🔥 tents are the way to go for this time of year , it makes everything more comfortable 🙌 and easier to work in and rest , the minted lamb stakes and comic IPA looked great and not to mention the chilli . MDM

Interesting version of a hot tent! I have a couple of One Tigris tents but it would be good to hammock in a warmer tent in the winter months. Vid is nicely shot and edited too. Sub'd. Cheers, Paul (noted the Mors Kochanski book too :) )

Thanks for a great video! I like that you never take yourself too seriously. Love the pup! Archie really enjoyed himself! Also loved your girlfriend's little girl helping you. She was very cute, but no shots of your girlfriend! Would like to see more of Alan too. I like your camera shots, but i like watching the camp and tent setup which you didnt include. As a storytelling process, it acts as an introduction to your camping experience. It makes any video more interesting to have a start, the middle with highlights and difficulties and a conclusion. Check out any book that you enjoyed reading, even simple kid's books. But im looking forward to your next video with Andy! I like his videos! I was introduced to your videos through him! 18:51

Tent looks amazing - and massive! But with the big tent, stove and to etc was it not VERY heavy to carry?! Bad for the back! Great video well done

Not telling you how to feed your dog……but a vet informed me that if I fed my dogs any dry kibble to be sure and add water to the meal over the kibble, like soup, because the kibble uses/needs water to expand, and if enough water isn’t consumed with the meal, water is pulled from the dogs body/intestinal tract, dehydrating the animal before they realize it. This can result not only in dehydration but impacted intestinal tracts. Theoretically, it makes sense. So I do 1/2 kibble, 1/2 cooked meat and veges, and water up to the level of food so it’s mushy or soupy. Just better for the animals digestion , my vet said.

My friends and family learned quickly that sharting themselves in a confined space with me is a quick ticket out 🤣 I've tossed people out of the car on the freeway for it. Not keen on inhaling someone else's dookie-flakes. Give me a heads up in the car and we can drop the windows. In the house, got to the restroom. In a tent, step on out. There are folks I haven't spoken to in a decade because of them releasing a miasma next to me was thought humorous 😂

Nice video! Curious, how did you deal with the creosote building up in the hot stove? Did you have to clean it daily or did it not get too dirty?
