Which Scenes In Marvel Movies and Tv Shows Were Unscripted?
Performers improvising unscripted scenes are a major reason for some of the best moments from our favorite Marvel actors! For anyone watching Loki on Disney+, we’ve got an improvised line confirmed by the director, Kate Hutton. Tom Hidleston has been creating some incredible moments. Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. have incredible chemistry which resulted in tons of golden moments made up entirely on the spot. We’re also taking a look at moments in Thor Ragnarok that made the movie brilliant and also happened to be totally improvised by the actors. The “Get Help” was improvised by Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth after director Taika Waititi gave them the suggestion that they act as if they were playing a game from their childhood and the actors absolutely ran with it! By the way, Beyoncé exists in many universes - including the MCU! Benedict Cumberbatch threw the reference to the mega star in Doctor Strange which resulted in another Beyoncé reference later in the film. Thor’s coffee mug slam also made an appearance in the Loki series. The original moment was a spontaneous choice from Hemsworth! Multiple actors came together to surprise the crew of Avengers: Infinity War when they broke out chanting in unison on set. The chants they were doing were from the Black Panther movie, which was still in production at the time. Their footage was kept and added a great moment to the film. Chris Pratt’s clumsiness came in handy when he was filming Guardians of the Galaxy since it lent itself to some comedy gold that wound up making the final cut. We’ve got all these and more, so stick around to check out these 20 improvised Marvel moments.

unpopular opinion: I felt the Ragnarok dialogue was awkward and had a lot of dead silences. Finding out later that it was ad lib made it clear why it was so poor. Those particular actors did not have the skills for it. Robin Williams was a genius and an all-time improv *expert* and a veteran standup comic, but in movies (aside from the Genie), he evidently worked from the fucking script. Watch the youtube videos, only a few of Robin's ad libs were notably included in any movie? Someone like RDJ can produce great additions, but the man is a veteran actor and funny irl. Chris Pratt displayed improv skills throughout Parks & Rec. Jeez, even the "improv" pros on Whose Line Is It Anyway prepare some bits in advance. Brilliant dialogue doesn't happen on the fly, that's why writers exist!!

The few improv you mention from Thor, i.e. Loki as a snake, mug slamming, Loki’s glass slamming comes from history. The Loki as a snake is Norse mythology. The cup and mug slamming is from several cultures including old Norse. It meant the drink was so good it couldn’t be corrupted with more drink. What this show is he was familiar with history and mythology of old Norse and brought it in. That is good acting!

@forcryinoutloud
@forcryinoutloud 2 роки тому
You literally missed the point. Also, OF COURSE Steve knew Tony made the suit. Jaysus, he knew Tony's father's, he knew Howard's constant inventing, you think he would be surprised Tony was capable of the same thing? That wasn't the point AT ALL. It was that Tony was using the suit as a crutch, and utterly arrogant because he was a "superhero", that the people Steve was being told to work with (like Tony), were not like the people he'd just woken up 70 yrs in the future away from (people like Bucky, Peggy, the Howling Commandos, even Howard though he also had that arrogance, who all were willing to put their lives on the line for someone else, without needing any glory, or fame, or publicity). Now, don't get me wrong. I adore Tony, and Steve was wrong about him because obviously Tony WAS willing to sacrifice himself - but Steve doesn't know much about the people he's being forced to work with other than what's in the files he was likely given, and I'm sure the file on Tony says EVERYTHING that Steve says in this scene, and nothing about the real Tony Stark underneath that arrogance. That said, we also need to remember that it is the MINDSTONE that is affecting all of them in this scene.

@@forcryinoutloud - Super well-said. The thing that bothers me about that though, is that Tony was willing to put his life on the line even before Avengers. Dealing with The 10 Rings and Ironmonger (Obediah Stane). Sure, he was trying to save Pepper, but he was also trying to do the right thing and keep his technology out of the wrong hands, lest it turn the world to chaos. He almost died for it then. (Both of them in human years). Rewatch the films if you don’t believe me. Thor & Loki are not the same age. Thor talks about his “younger “ brother. It’s not difficult to parse out. No. The “I am Iron Man” line WAS improvised. The coming back to shoot had to do with the shawarma scene. RDJ absolutely ab-libbed that line or lied in about 100 interviews. And I think it’s unlikely that he would have done more than three to five before the studio said something to him. Bc while Iron Man was a big hit, Marvel wasn’t the giant yet that it is today. And Iron Man was RDJ’s comeback from a bu ch of bad film choices and rehab and jail.

The shawarma part of my statement makes that perfectly clear. I loved the relationship bet IM and Spider-Man (and they were adorable in interviews). I’ve had very little sleep for a number of months now - my mother is quite ill and won’t be getting better - so my brain didn’t catch up with the video and the statement. It’s rare for people to talk about “I am Iron Man” improv in any context other than his original statement (and, indeed, that was the only time it occurred) so while the video talked specifically about the ending of Endgame, I’m pretty sure (tho I certain,y won’t swear to it) that I responded to Maren after the fact. Meaning I came back for some other reason, saw the comment, & responded. Since this would have occurred more than 15 minutes after watching the video, I would have already forgotten the specifics of the video itself. Call it remarkably early Alzheimer’s (to be written up in magazines). And since this had nothing to do with the original statement, I didn’t need “proof positive”. I honestly thought you were disputing RDJs original improv of the line and as can be seen in the comments that follow. I do apologize for not realizing or remembering what was specifically being referred to, but as there is nothing in the comment to explain we’re discussing Endgame, please give me the benefit of the doubt that I merely misunderstood. Especially bc my response clearly referred to IM1, and anybody reading it could have simply stated this was in reference to Endgame, not his first statement. In a nice way. Bc why not?

A lot of people are complaining about the superhero movies, and while I CAN see where they're coming from, if you strip down the fight scenes, they have a good story, good dialogue. I love the effort they've put into making it all feel real. They made it seem like earth actually has superheroes who we all know.

Tony Stark saying “and I am Iron Man” in Endgame wasn’t improvised. The line was thought up after the movie was wrapped by the Russo’s and Feige and RDJ had to be convinced to come back and do the line. He wasn’t thrilled about coming back a few weeks later to do it because he found that scene so emotionally draining he didn’t want to go through it again. Glad he changed his mind. Great closing line. For ending 2 movies and starting a Black Sabbath song, it is memorable.

The scene of Tom Holland saying ‘’ I don’t wanna go ! ‘’ was also exactly in the negotiations between Marvel’s and Sony for keeping Spider-Man in the MCU, and Tom Holland didn’t want to go, so it was a clear message pleading for mercy.

there are a few here that weren't improvised. The biggest one was "I am Ironman." Downey had to be convince over dinner with some people from the studio that it was the right line for the moment.
