FYI, Mercedes recalled this part of put out an extended warranty on it. See if your car is covered before you do the repair.

You can take off the intake manifold and take it off from there. It will take less time

I have the same problem. My code reader won't show the code unless the engine is running and I scan it. It is p052e71. I noticed my engine oil was slightly above max level. So I did an oil change and filled it half way this time. The CEL disappeared only got a week and now it is back.

@EuropeanAutoRepair What is the part number for that assembly? Also, can the code be cleared by just replacing the oil separator or actuator/valve on the hose line instead of the whole intake assembly? P052E P2610 CODES on 2017 C117 CLA250 If can help Thanks!

My code says P1D03 vent valve crankcase electrical failure . I’ll do same thing , replace all correct?

Hey man quick question. I have a 2014 cla45 amg with a bad pcv system. I found a tsb out for the pcv system to be replaced causes the crank seal to push out and rub sounds like a belt squeak. But can’t really find any info for parts or even procedures on ALLDATA just the tsb. are these two vehicle alike? Or the oil separator/pcv and located similar? anything would help TIA

Yeah I've heard people talk about overfilling the oil level blocking off the hole in the block where the oil separator drains too causing a problem. I believe the oil separator/pcv system is one big unit on the car as well.

@@bazookatatum2225 Hello, I have the same exact issue on my GLA 200 2015, I have the 1.6 L engine, and whenever I am parked with engine running, especially on an inclined surface, I'd hear this belt squeaking like sound, I have looked at the belts, tensioners, changed the crankshaft pully and still there, I have gone to the dealer, they diagnosed, said they rechecked everything, seemed okay, and couldn't replicate the issue, can you point me to this TSB, and can you tell me how the issue was fixed, and if there is any harm keeping it that way?

Hi. Why do you need to replace the oil separator? Was it defective and caused some problems?

They throw a crankcase ventilation valve fault, engine light on.

CLA 250,2014 I had engine light on ,in very cold temp the car drives very slow .I have to restart and it goes well. since yesterday I got P052e and the car doesn't starts it any way to get it started and take it to dealer ship

Usually the car will still start with that fault stored. Possible you have another problem as well.

No you can’t. I just got finished doing the job. Mine was really bad and had oil from the turbo all the way to the intake manifold so I had to remove everything to wash it. The only way to remove the oil separator is this way. The axle runs through a motor mount which is bolted in front of the oil separator

I have a 2014 Cla250 car runs fine just smokes like crazy oil smoke throws P06DA-00 code. Could that cause the white oil smoke? Or have you seen the smoke problem before?

I’m not sure on the smoking honestly, I’ve seen streaming fuel injectors cause that on that model but nothing else comes to mind, I think that fault you have is for a oil pump control valve solenoid problem

I have the same car. Could the oil separator allow oil to mix with coolant? Just had the thermostat replaced. Car has been driven about 3 weeks and noticed this issue. Have a leak in coolant system. 4 head gasket combustion tests all passed. The Dealership stated maybe the oil separator could cause the issue. Any thoughts?

I can’t picture how the oil separator would introduce oil to coolant on that motor, If the transmission cooler is inside the end tank of radiator I would also check that

Do you have any suggestions on how you would proceed knowing the coolant system is losing pressure and oil is getting into overflow tank after passing 4 combustion tests looking for a head gasket leak? Going to put in shop but would like another opinion. Thank you.

The oil is on top of the coolant in the reservoir so if you smell it does it smell like transmission fluid or motor oil? If it doesn’t have much odor it’s likely motor oil, I would suspect the oil cooler is faulty, it’s difficult to diagnose with any certainty but it’s one of the only likely causes

The engine makes a squealing noise that's why you charge the PCV valve ?

That’s a symptom of a torn pcv diaphragm sometimes, if you lift the filler cap with the engine running and the noise goes away that’s a sign

It can damage engine seals, cause excessive oil consumption and depending one the engine even cause oil pressure problem

How many hours did this job take? Also would it be safe to drive the vehicle around 100 miles to get to my lift? I have code P052E which i believe is the job you're performing.

I can do it in 2 or 3 hours now because I've done the job many times. Set aside 5 or 6 hours I'd say

My local Mercedes dealership wanted 8 hours, $1600 just in labor. I had that part that I got online for $500, when they wanted $900. Total $2500. NO THANKS!! Getting under it today!!!
