@F Swimmblader I mean technically it’s a simile not a metaphor because I am comparing the vibe and feeling of the music and choreography to things that it reminds me of. It’s not that deep get over it lmao

@@elinanikolopoulou1769 She developed a severe case of anorexia, which caused more health problems as she trained, and she realized that she couldn't stay on the eating regimen of a professional Olympic level athlete if she ever wants to recover from her illness, leading her to retire from figure skating at mere age of 19. It's so terribly sad. 😢 But good news is that if you look at her pictures from the present, she's clearly recovered from her eating disorder, evidenced by the healthy amount of weight she has gained since retiring. She now coaches kids in figure skating, and is also a professional commentator in figure skating events (I can't understand Russian, but I've read that she's quite witty and hilarious), as well as continuing to do ice shows occasionaly. So it's good to know that she hasn't had to quit her childhood passion entirely. She'd won my (and countless other people's hearts) with her Schindler's List performance at the 2014 Olympics, for which she won team gold, and though she had many other fantastic performances too, I think everyone agrees that it's her S List performance that she'll be immortalized in the history of figure skating for. Truly, forever the Darling Of Sochi. (Seriously, I've seen Russians on the net comment that most people in their own country think Yulia Lipnitskaya won the Sochi Ladies gold, even though it was someone else. (Of course, if you know of the Sochi Olympics Scandal, you'd know that Yulia's brilliance and popularity isn't even the main reason for this misconception.)

Apparently, she stopped her career because of anorexia ! So so sad...

It needed work and not the best music choice for where she was at artistically (something with more obvious dynamics and changes may have helped her components a bit more) but this was the first performance I really saw her potential beyond a flexible novelty. However, there was no joy here. You could see there was no glimmer in her eyes.

Tash T Her story is a tragic story. She has retired this year because of anorexia. But there is a lot more to it than that. She had extreme mental and physical health issues after Sochi 2014. She was not able to maintain her "child prodigy" consistence. She was in a clinique now for 3 months and said she is done with skating forever. She has no intention of going back to the ice,not even for shows or Galas "The ice lost its appeal for me"-She said. What a tragedy we will never see those spins again. Apparently she is now going to university to study. A normal life will await her. I still cant believe it bc she is seen as a legend in Russia....

she was a commentator for the grand prix though, so even if she doesn't skate anymore, she still has some presence in the skating world :)
