Couple of things: 1. We just bought one of these and traded in a 2012 Freedom Express that we loved, but after 11 years was time to upgrade. 2. Overland solar package: Great package. 200w panel vs. 165w from Grand Design, and it’s Lithium battery ready (Li-ion and LiFePO4) for the inverter and solar charger controller. HOWEVER, that Overland package indicates this would be great for off-grid/boondocking. If it wasn’t for the on-demand water heater, it would. You have to use nearly TWICE the water to get hot water. We boondocked in our ‘12 Coachmen with an electric/gas WH and had no issues. If you’re on a full hookup, on demand is great. Anything else, throw the dang things away!! 3. The dinette table is MDF, as are the bench backs = cheap. Also, the dinette cushions’ fabric are uncomfortable and won’t stay upright. Velcro strips fixed that tho. Adults will not fit on that dinette as a bed. It’s only long enough for kids up to 10-13 y/o. 4. Cosmetic, but the fender flares looked like an afterthought. They are thrown on and don’t sit flush, making an otherwise great looking rig look cheap. 5. The (only) fresh water fill is on the camp side, opposite of the sewer, city water hookup and black tank flush. 6. The water heater and furnace vent in the middle of the camp side. I understand layout, but that’s not the best design. 7. Kitchen counter is a couple of inches lower than normal. Likely due to the “squished” layout being in the slide. Something to keep in mind. 8. The layout is great, being able to use everything with the slide closed. The only thing it occluded is the TV and the solar charge controller. We don’t watch much tv whole camping, so no sweat there. 9. What’s with all the blue lights??? (a.k.a. bug ATTRACTANTS). KMart went out of business. Gimmie back my amber light by the steps! 10. Outlets all over are great. 11. The bunks in most rigs I’ve seen are very short. So…. We took out the top bunk and left a 13” shelf and one big bottom bunk. My daughter loves that and my son is out of the house, so we’re down to one chitlin and it works for us. It was our plan anyway and easy enough to put back in. 12. The model we have has a MaxxAir fan in the dining/kitchen area, which is a light year beyond the tiny fans. We had a Fantastic Fan installed in the Coachmen, which is several light years beyond the tiny ones. But, the MaxxAir was prepped for a vent cover with the clips, so that was a bonus. Having fans in the bathroom, dining/kitchen, and bedroom is GREAT. 13. The ducted A/C is awesome. Good ducts in good locations. 14. 12V fridge: jury is still out, but that’s why I’m happy about the lithium ready solar system, and we got a Battle Born 100Ah battery. 15. Awning: nice and long, but NARROW. This one is about 16-18” more narrow than our old one. Our awning mat isn’t covered and I get rained on standing at the end of the picnic table (perpendicular from the camper). 16. We chose this model over a Grand Design Transcend 247BH because the CCC was about 500# more. Boondocking requires transporting a full freshwater tank. 17. Jay Command control thingy: Bluetooth controls for everything, including the awning and slide. Love it, even though my keeper doesn’t (I may have messed with the lights a few times while she was inside…😮😅) 18. Bed: we put a camper queen Denver Mattress in here, which is quite thick, and my wife has to use a step stool to get on it, so be aware. 19. The plastic handle on the entry door should be metal. It feels like it’ll break off pulling the door shut w/o slamming it every time. Conclusion (finally, if you’re not asleep yet): Overall, good rig. Tankless water heater sucks so far. I’m disappointed in the quality of the build, a lot of little things that I can tell were rushed and have inferior materials. I expected more from Jayco, but didn’t see these until we got in it for our first trip. Several things are being addressed under warranty and my handy work (as normal with any RV), so I think we’ll manage. Covid did a number on the quality of RV’s and they don’t build them like they used to. This is a little heavier than our Coachmen, but pulls great with my 1/2 ton Silverado.

How did your Silverado hold up pulling? I also have a Silverado
@Koontz40SW
@Koontz40SW 6 місяців тому
@@alceja3522it pulled just fine. I have the 5.3 engine with the 3.42 rear axle. I think the Goodyear tires help a lot as it pulled quite smooth. Full disclosure, we dumped this rig for a Transcend 247BH. Quality on the Jayco was poor and the dealer was terrible to deal with. It looks nice, but it’s lipstick on a pig.

I have an important (to me) question because I am seriously thinking about buying this. The kitchen being in a slide means that all the plumbing is moving with every setup. How are the water and drain pipes moving with this? How are the propane lines moving with the slide? Did they come up with a creative way to make this a long lasting feature? I have been looking all over the internet and I cant find anything about it.

I’ve always loved watching these videos but the recent update in the production quality has been AWESOME. Also smart move starting with the interior review up front; I always skip there!

That's great feedback, I appreciate that. I'm wondering if we should start the overall walk-through inside the coach instead of outside as well. Appreciate your comments. -Mike

I'm wondering if that bunk room can be converted into a laundry room, removing the bunks so that you can install washer dryer and use it as a storage room as
@VogtRVWorld
@VogtRVWorld 11 місяців тому
Might be possible, but it would take some "doing". It's not something we can order from Jayco that way, but some folks to modifications after purchase.

We just got this model and removed the top bunk. It was pretty easy, minimal cutting. The support pieces are stapled from the outside, so I cut them in the middle and then cut the staples off, and trimmed out the wall cleats that we left in to cover the staple ends. We kept the bottom bunk for our daughter, but taking that out would also be easy as there’s a ton of room under there. The ladder came out really easy too. Just a few screws.

@@Koontz40SW .. I know it can be done but it sure would be nice to order it from the factory that way, I mean without the bunks and ready for washer and dryer...

Hey, are you in Texas? Does the feather model come with a sofa bed in front of the bedroom wall? I do believe I saw one in another model. I am very interested in the cost. Thank you. 😊

The Feather 21MML might be a candidate - it has a murphy bed and it quite spacious. We don't have one currently in stock but you can keep an eye on avail and pricing on our website: www.vogtrv.com/
