It's a pity that Acura abandoned the Elliot Scheiner Studio speaker system. Many manufacturers have Bang & Olufsen, and it is certainly cool, but only Acura had ELS, and this was a separate point of its features and authenticity. But, as they say, what is not done is all for the better)

I think a big reason for the switch is a cachet problem. ELS just doesn’t have the recognition that B/O has. It’s similar to how the Acura badge isn’t as prestigious as a Mercedes badge.

It's too difficult to find true 5.1 channel music, and most Acura owners just use CarPlay to stream music. With low quality source ELS is not superior to competitors. ELS is for true audiophiles, while ordinary people perfer higher wattage and more speakers

Having someone sub in for the (a) topher is like when you were a kid and you lost your mom in a grocery store feeling lost and confused, then you see her and run up to her and hug her leg. Then you look up and realize it’s not your mom, it’s just some stranger. Yeah. That’s what it feels like. Excellent review though!

Bang and Olufsen are a great manufacture, I owned many of their speakers and headphones, if their vehicle audio engineering is as good as their speakers and headphone, people are will love it! I am very particular about audio system, my headphone set at home has range from few thousand to 10s of thousand setup to include a Hifiman Susvara, Bang and olufsen is among the tuning that I like!

Its a cost cutting move. They go with whatever vendor gives them a cheaper price in bulk. ELS was most likely more expensive than BO.

My favorite color, it is rich and deep and subtle. Personal taste and that’s fine but I would never get a blue or red or gold vehicle. To me those colors look cheap and wear on me quickly. My family has dealerships so I drive a little of all of the brands. When we buy used cars at auction or from buyers, the managers pay less for blue cars. That’s been true for decades but colors have been more popular for over a decade but still less sold than primary colors. Sorry for the rant.

I like the toucpad on my TLX - its easier to use and keeps your eyes on the road....and keeps disgusting finger prints off of the screen...I dont understand the hate...maybe a rotary dial would be a good middle.

I have no idea what the fascination with touchscreens is………The touchpad was much better……….There is a huge safety issue of attempting to sift through menu after menu while trying to drive……..But I guess the lemmings have spoken since they think a touchscreen is so much better.

The touch pad is not bad in the native Acura system but it turns into a regular touch pad in android auto or car play so it basically defeats the purpose. I would rather have a dial or both touch screen and dial like old idrive systems

I can’t get over the push button gear selector. The 31 speakers is a bit overkill. The new GM trio has more power, and an option for a power third row seats. On the reliability side, Acura has a great track record. On long runs, I could go for the massaging seats. I'm surprised Honda didn’t beef up the 3.5 or offer two versions of the turbo. Have all trims except the base standard AWD.

@@drummer8946 we don't need to hear it. B&O has always been about design. None of their stuff sounds good. Out of all the audiophile grade systems I've designed, not one of my clients asked about B&O lol. B&W, Martin Logan ELS, Sonus Faber, Paradigm, Focal, Kef, JBL Synthesis, Wilson Audio. I've heard them all, B&O is just pretty.

Its good they switched to the touchscreen, but I wish they put a bit more effort into making it look different vs the honda system. They could have at least made the blue parts on the left and right black to match the homepage. As it stands, I think aesthetically the touchpad system looked far better.

Tbh, i really like the new honda system. I wish it was in all the acura models instead of the touchpad. They could change up the fonts and colors but I think the system is perfect as it is.

I will definitely wait for this one. Advance AWD, I’m guessing upper $60’s price range? So glad they got rid of that flat black plastic trim on the outside, which the sun eventually bleached out to gray/white. B&O sound system should sound nice too, and with a large touchscreen. Acura/Honda, please don’t scrap the 3.5 V6 for a lousy 4-banger with a turbo, and you’ll have me as customer for life.

Suspension doesn’t bother me. It’s all of the rattles inside the cabin that drive me nuts. I’ve owned a lot of cars at 100k+ miles and none of them have had so many rattles as this MDX at 15k. And then there’s the rear opening on its own while the car is locked and parked. It happens once every month or two and seems to be the worst of many software bugs the car has. This was my first Acura and it will be my last. Can’t wait to replace it with another Porsche.

@@MrMlbfan6 I feel like it isn't the suspension that is the only problem but Acura and Honda in general lacks NVH material on the floor of the vehicle and they transfer a lot of road noise and harshness back into the cabin I've experienced it in both Honda and Acura products but they do a good job a keeping wind noise out

@@DKL997 the rear opening on its own sounds like a problem you should report for a possible recall or it might just be your vehicle considering if you have one of the few cars that are the first in production in the assembly line they will most likely have the most problems and this really applies to any manufacturer as they learn how to build the new model better

I really don’t like how increasingly more cars are migrating to these Android based infotainment systems. For one because I don’t trust Google at all, like every other internet connected device I own is already probably collecting data about me and selling it, so now even my car too? Secondly, I guess this is in the process of rapidly improving, but I still prefer a GPS based navigation system rather than a cellular one, GPS is just far more reliable and designed to work everywhere, and ditching it for cellular based navigation literally feels like a downgrade to me.

I have the 2023 a spec in white and although I wish I had a touchscreen, I will not upgrade until the interior is fully redesigned with a more centralized theme. They could have done something better now that the trackpad is gone and the screen does look stuck there. Also, the piano trim needs to go.

that’s BMW or Mercedes thing - Acura still focused on reliability and not wanting to use turbos. To get ~400hp you’re looking at dual turbos producing a high amount of boost/pressure on those engines. They won’t risk their reliability rep for that- not their brand.

If you really want a hybrid mdx go find a 17-20 mdx sport hybrid Acura will do performance hybrids not economical hybrids like Honda does so the mpg figures won't be all that impressive anyways. Also most people want ol reliable when buying an Acura they basically stick to what has worked drive train wise unless there's problems with it.

It is an exceptional vehicle, reliable. However the dash needs a complete overhaul. Something is very wrong with the design and ergonomics of it and that chintzy looking touchscreen looks like a cheap android tablet haphazardly installed. This dash needs to go.

Very interesting that they got rid of ELS. I don't own an Acura currently but my big draw to Acura and one of the only reasons I really considered their vehicles was that their ELS 3D systems were so good. Should be interesting to see how good the B&O system is - I have had good experiences with their systems in my 2018 S5 Sportback prestige and my current 2017 RS3 so I have no reason to believe it's a downgrade but it'll be interesting nevertheless.

Acura ripped off the front air intakes from the 2022 BMW X5 M generation. It doesn't work on the Acura and it's ugly. You have two big gloss black squares with a pointy front bumper.

You mean the air vents? The air intake is in the engine bay. Acura borrowed the square vents from the 10th gen Honda civic or from themselves really. If anything everyone with square bumper vents copied Honda. That only makes it look dumb and overdone on the bmw
