It's not in "some weird container", it's in *no* container. That's a raw H.264 stream, which is possible because it's video-only. But yeah, it would have been much easier for most people to deal with if they put it into an ISOBMFF ("MP4") container.

Ah, it's that time of the month when Marco's hard drives are full and he has to push out all the videos :). BTW .h264 files are usually the raw H.264 bitstream with no container, although it's a bit odd to see a consumer product produce one as they're not the nicest files to work with.

Several years back, I got a refurbished Agilent (with Keysight sticker) IR imager with visible sensor. It has a neato mechanical focus-and-parallax-adjusting mechanism so whenever you adjust the focus with one camera, the mechanism also focuses the other and aligns the images. You can choose to see the visible, IR, combined, or (I think) a sort of picture-in-picture setup. It's built beautifully like this Vevor and the *refurbished* price was around $600. I think it was $1200 new. (It also doubles as a club for subduing enemies.) Amazing what has appeared in just the past few years.

Thank you so much for the teardown. I have an Infiray C200 (very happy with it!) which has exactly the same outer casing, specs, functions and so on and I've been wondering how to open it, if it ever becomes necessary. Now I know, finally. I bought it about two years ago and I was a little too quick. Shortly after Infiray released an updated C210, that also offers live video output over USB, just like the Uni-T UTI260i.

Physically identical to my Topdon TC004 but from what I can see the Vevor SC240M IR sensor res is 240x180 whilst the TC004 is 256x192. There are quite a few in this category, all sooo much alike and quoting different resolutions, and who knows who actually makes the hardware? FYI TC004 boot time = 28secs. PS. Be nice to see Mr. Marco Reps compare the two.......
@Aparviel
@Aparviel 11 місяців тому
I own one made by infiray itself - infiray C200 Pro. It's 1 to 1 outside, but in red-grey colors and ir resolution is a bit higher - 256x192. And there is a myriad of IR cameras by different brands with same hardware in and out. I guess infiray is just not shy of giving this device to any brand for it to stick it's own sticker on top

The whole Infiray thing is neat. I've been waiting on thermal cameras to drop in price and go up in resolution for a very long time. It's great we're FINALLY reaching commoditization. I wish I had seen this video before buying the P2 Pro, as the SC240M is a bit cheaper here in the US. That being said, the ability to use the P2 Pro on a computer is very nice. It's also absolutely TINY! So far I've been pretty impressed with it, aside from my first unit having weird issues and eventually failing. The second one has been flawless, though. Been using it to hunt down issues in an early switch mode power supply in an old Solartron multimeter, as well as reveal moisture in walls after a recent flood. Regarding the visible light camera and MSX-like functionality, it's almost not required. With the thermal imager being so high res, it's not at all difficult to make out features that FLIR units need MSX for.

After buying a SC240N myself and taking it out with me on a bike ride at night I really feel your comment at 5:40 about AR thermal vision specs. It's amazing to play around with this camera. I have found that despite the supposedly limited temperature range of -20°C to 350°C, temperatures of almost 600°C can be measured with the SC240N (measured my toaster). In addition, the number of color palettes is limited with the SC240N. However, with the Infiray C200 software, you can read out the raw .irg files and select between 8 color palettes afterwards. Unfortunately, the seal on the lens cover of my camera was not inserted properly, so it swells out at the bottom and the IP54 rating is probably not met. That's why I'm currently in contact with customer service. Last but not least, I have a question about the lens. What is the recommended focal length for microelectronics? Edit: Vevor offered me a ~30 % refund and a focal length of 2 inches seems to be fine.

This video is not like other Marco Reps content. No info about UX - what about software on that thing? - can you define what temperature range you want to see (ie: let something very hot in in frame to be out of scale and focus only on stuff between say 10 and 20C)? - can you change color scheme - how often does mechanical shutter activate to calibrate this thing Thermal cameras from Asia with 25fps aren't a new thing, just look at what HTI offers. Looks like HT-301 is very similar to T3S-Pro.
@RohrAtom
@RohrAtom 11 місяців тому
I can answer some questions. - The temperature range can only be defined afterwards via software. - The SC240N offers 4 color palettes vs. SC240N with 7 color palettes. - After booting it calibrates every few seconds. The frequency decreases like a decay function and with longer operation time it happens only occasionally. But you can also do it yourself if you want to.

As other comments have said, you should use ffmpeg (or MKVMerge) to wrap the file in a standard MKV and it should fix the issue without losing data to transcoding.

You can probably workaround the h264 files, skipping transcoding, by putting it in a container google mp4box and/or mkvmerge (prefer mkvmerge) and use the h264 as the video stream to output a .mp4 or .mkv that should be open-able by any video editor.

hey reps - take it from me that the P2 Pro is not the right one to get... the T2L is better version and it does not cost so much more from the right aliexpress seller(s). Often the price is reduced now and again. After the T2L then next step up is to get their T3S (aka T3Pro). Which is the correct successor to the T2L, just with their newer sensor. However T3S is unfortunately too expensive ATM. Since it is still relatively new out on the market.
