The Daphne story was new to me, and it really made me see Dave with more respect. I knew he wasn't really a transphobe, but that story showed how deeply he really cared about his friend. Dave Chappelle lives in the same small town as my sister. He knows her just like he pretty much knows everyone else in that town. In fact, every member of my immediate family (father, his wife, her 3 daughters, etc.) has met and interacted with Dave more than once. I myself have never met him, but I probably will one day. Every single one of them has always said what a nice and genuine person that he is. Friendly, engaging, humble, and just acts like a regular guy. His fame hasn’t gone to his head. I really look forward to running into him one day.
