We add a reset button to the Pi Pico.
In my last video, I complained about the lack of a reset button. I got a few proposals to solve the problem:
- We can purchase this button from Pimironi. It connects the “run” pin to ground. Which is all we need to reset the RP2040 chip
- We can add a USB cable with an off switch. Just pay attention that you do get a cable with data lines included…
- The third proposal was to use a standard switch on a breadboard to ground the “RUN” pin-also a working solution
- My compact and cheap solution

@@AndreasSpiess Ok, you are right, I investigated a little, Vetus HQ is in Shanghai, but on the pictures I saw on Ihbäh it said "Swizerland Standard" printed on them, I mixed that up with the origin but I guess it means something else then, probably a cosmetic thing. Non magnetic is good... I often struggle with my cheap steel ones when placing small inductors, they just won't stick in the paste, and then I have paste on the tweezers oh its a mess (bought a pair with ceramic tips just for these pesky inductors) ;:D

for those interested: one of the plain old 6x6x5mm DIP micro pushbuttons (like these www.ebay.de/itm/100pcs-Micro-switch-push-button-6-6-5-mm-new-good-quality/400985254448?hash=item5d5c956a30:g:TDsAAOSwcu5UNir1) actually fits perfectly if you chop off one pair of legs. the other pair will perfectly hug the castellations of the ground and run pin and hold the button firmly in place when soldered. i superglued a tiny piece of copper free perfboard as a standoff to the underside of the button so that the backside of the button can rest on the free area behind the pin headers with the button perfectly square to the board. this adds a bit more support to the button, but i would deem this step optional. of course thats bigger than the swiss button, but it looks way less janky than this tiny button hanging between the two pins

Pi PCBs are not designed to be very user friendly. Every tried to connect an external antenna to a Pi Zero W? Who in their right mind would use a tiny a** resistor for that when there is plenty of room for something a little bigger. Even worse the pad for the connector is at ~45 degrees. If you use solder to jump the gap you are very likely to create a short to ground if you hit one of the vias near by. I like their boards but their PCB design is junk.
