Cool new product! As an engineer, I'm interested to know: - What are example-situations where I should _not_ deploy this device? - What is the budgetary pricing? Digikey has these devices listed at ~ $1.1 for large volumes - shall this stay around this number? - You depict axially and radially magnetized targets. Is it correct to say that in each case, the sensor is able to distinguish three DoFs; *Which* three depends on the magnetization-orientation - How does this device compare to similar devices from (say) AMS? - Is it qualified for safety-critical applications (e.g. brakes or joysticks controlling heavy equipment)? - ..Care to ask Shawn Hymel to do a tutorial-video on application of this device? :)

Sorry for the late reply! Please find the answers here: - An example application could be where the sensor needs to be a large distance away from the microcontroller or in areas where there are large magnetic stray fields that could impact the measurement. - Pricing will depend on the volume and desired package among other things. Please contact a distributor or Melexis directly for a production-quantity quotation. - Three DoF (e.g. Joystick [pitch & roll] with push/pull [translation]) is possible with a simple axially magnetized magnet for example. Other configurations, with higher degrees of freedom, may be possible with more complex magnetic designs and processing in the host microcontroller. - The MLX90395 is focused on providing a low-level sensing function for magnetic fields without additional processing performed i.e. raw XYZ output. This enables lower power and a higher degree of flexibility as the sensing approach can be tailored to the application. - The MLX90395 can be used in a variety of applications including applications requiring safety or redundancy. The MLX90395 was not designed to the ISO26262 standard however Melexis can provide additional information to integrate the MLX90395 into an ASIL application. - Are you in direct contact with Shawn Hymel? :-) If so, you can always tell him we're interested!

@@Melexis_Sensors Thanks :) I'm not "in direct contact" with Shawn Hymel, but have messaged him via shawnhymel.com/contact/

@@Melexis_Sensors Sorry! He finds this a cool product too, but is focusing on AI/ML these days, so stepping back from the regular electronics/sensors tutorials.
