- Beforehand: be hydrated, do stretches, stand straight, sigh, yawn, start focusing on your singing session, feel happy about doing it :-) - Humming (softly!): activates your vocal cords (in case you haven't been speaking until now) - Mum: start projecting (feel the "m" vibrate your lips and open your jaw to "spit out" the "ah"s) - Lip roll: loosens your lips, warms up embouchure muscles, engages air flow control, massages your throat (beginner note: this is a skill in and of itself, don't be discouraged if you can't do it just yet!) - Goog: raises your soft palate, requires you to maintain good embouchure, glottal attack further warms up muscles in your throat - Beginner addition: throughout the entire warm up you train your muscle memory for volume and pitch (intervals) and your range. Aim for clean phonation and consistence. Get familiar with your singing voice. - Intermediate addition: throughout the entire warm up you can train your mixed voice and improve your vowel shape and resonance as well as projection. Three days before preformance! Ill check in on how it goes as I plan to take this video and these tips to heart. Edit: The audition went great! I ended up getting callbacks for the 3 main roles that I wanted!! We get results this morning!! UPDATE: this is sooo late!! But, I ended up getting one of the roles I wanted!! OkOkokok so I just wanted to share my accomplishment with the singing community while I was doing this but I was recently selected by my school out of hundred of auditions from much more experienced people to gain one of the only 20 spots in a annual talent show they do- I don’t think I’ve ever been this proud of myself SO AAAAAA

I have been a singer for decades and have never warmed up (unless you consider the first song a warmup 🙂). Since turning 60, I am considering making some changes to protect my voice for future. My tone and range are better than when I was twenty but it never hurts to get better.

I was literally singing drivers license a few weeks ago and my mom told me to shut up because it sounds bad but yesterday I was singing it for practice and she heard me and was very impressed because she said it sounded really good and I have been getting better

I have been taking voice lessons for 8 months and this warmup video helps out it is close to my vocal instructor's warmup that we begin with every week. I love singing it is lifelong dream of mine. I started late in life but better late than never.
