Good question. If I knew my friend was innocent or strongly believed that, I would speak up. However, if I knew my friend was doing shady stuff or if I suspected it, I would keep quiet, but then again, I would have distanced myself from them awhile ago.

I think anyone that was his friend and hung out around him knew exactly what was happening. The rumors have been going on too long for them to say they didn’t or don’t know. If you are hanging around someone and hearing rumors like that, the average person is going to start wondering and paying attention to things and asking questions, so I personally don’t believe them when they say they didn’t know. I think we all are voicing our opinions from the “entertainment” lens and not realizing that whatever you say, will be used against you in the court of law. Not all incarcerated individuals are guilty. We see this all the time where people serve time and get released years later bc the law made a mistake. Having said that, the smartest thing to do is lawyer up and follow your attorney’s advice. Reacting on your feelings will almost always not be the best outcome. Sit back, listen and move militant.
