You do have a family - your online family - and I, for one, am so inspired by you both. I know we are not 'real' family - but perhaps it is nice to think that the 'extended' family is there for you in spirit if not in body. Without imparting judgement on your parents, one thing I learned in probably my 20s is something your therapist probably told you. You cannot control or change other people this includes parents and relatives. You can only control how you react to situations. So after I learned this what they say or do may aggravate or annoy me a short time but then after I leave I don’t obsess about any of it till the next time. 😊❤

Any time we step out of our cultures “norm,” we get pushback from others. But, it is the only way to discover who you really are and the life you want to live. I think there is a lot of fear and envy from others. Secretly, we admire those who are brave enough to go after their vision for their life. Which is why so many people don’t dare it and are miserable. Kudos to you both. Forge on and don’t let go of your dreams. My family always told me that they loved me when I was young but then they never called, never checked on me. I was always reaching out to them and then one day I stopped. My father had died when I was a young man of 23. My mother hadn’t spoken to me since I was 21 and then only because I wrote to her. I lived my life the best that I could. Now I live to enjoy each day as it comes.

I took a job overseas for 9 months and sold my car and left my belongings at a friend's house for that time. When I returned, my friend told me his mother decided to throw out all of my things so she could have more room. I lost everything. Though many years have passed since, it is still an awful memory. I have since done much more than I ever imagined, as the only way forward was to leave things behind. It's difficult to climb mountains when carrying too much baggage. So good to see you guys building a beautiful life of your own making.

Eugenia, I don't often take the time to write comments but definitely wanted to write you few words after watching this video. thank you for being so open and vulnerable. I always have been really inspired by the life you have created for yourself, but even more now when you have an idea of the journey. I can relate to the hardship of not feeling supported by family, you both should be so proud of what you have built. Happiness is not the desination, its the journey. You have both gound happiness in each ither and living like you do. Many will not like nor understand. I too have struggled with that very exact same thing. Shame is like a death sentence...it has to be rooted out of ourselves. I am on the other side of that shame but it was not without help and support from the family I and my husband have created for ourselves. I applaud all you have shared here and my hope is that you continue to share. I have been so inspired by you and Pepe. We hope one day to be able to visit your little piece of paradise. ....P.S. Wow, this is so powerful. I can relate to everything you went through here. My husb6and I have been on our own with no help. We built an amazing life but had to start over, again with little to no help. We are stronger than ever for it. We even lived in a garage apartment for a while. Even with allnof our degrees and success itnwas difficult to explain to family why we were moving to a new place and doing so many new things but we know its what we are meant to do. We lost alot of relationships through thisnprocess and are still going through it now. Thanks for letting me know there are other "palm trees" out here growing strong through each storm. Coming from a rocky family myself and being in the process of "rising from the ashes" myself i appreciate you posting this video. Only last year my found family and i had everything that wasnt used on a daily basis to survive in a storage unit filled to the brim. Thankfully i am in a place were I dont have to have/ pay for the unit monthly anymore. Yohr have made so much beautiful and stressful progress in eachothers lives. Your Video's always bring a smile to my face. however this one really gave me hope. As a single mum of two I have been surviving and not living. And year I faced the worst burn out in my Life. 2024 I decided to give myself 3 months to see if I could stay at the same work place and I felt my energy depleting too fast for my liking. So now I am on my last week at work and excited about the unknown. I am paying more to how I feel more than what I have to do to survive. I am ready for the next door to open and have been enjoying my own company. I have land in the country and really looking forward to getting of the grid. Thank you for sharing your life

The Lord goes with you always, Foot Prints in the Sand One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to my Lord. After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints. This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it. "Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me." He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you Never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

Always be true to yourself, if others, even those that are family cannot deal with that. It is their problem to sort not yours. Feel sorry for their loss. Look forward never behind. 😊

And most people are in survival mode - which is why they hate seeing people like us live our dreams. But our time is coming. We just have to not think our ideas or ourselves are failures. What a very moving episode that once again shows a true reality of life; the challenges, the sadness and then finding a way back to peace and comfort and eventually moments of joy. I have experienced anxiety too, and I found comfort and relief when outside in nature or working in my garden. You two have made many accomplishments already and should be very proud of them. You're both extremely hard working, creative, and you create beauty all around you. Often we look for confirmation from others/family that we're on the right track but I've learned that it's best to look inwards for that. I never received guidance from my parents. They divorced when I was 10 and my father went missing. I've had to make my own way without much support. You'll have many external signs that will guide you on your path.

Living on your own terms of an act of courage. Placing boundaries as an act of courage. And sometimes we lose those that we thought we’re going to be there for the long run. More than ever I recognized that not everyone will be. And that’s OK. Letting go is OK. Letting go of the expectations that people will be there for us. And it’s sad really because we need each more than ever. And instead helping one another we hurt one another. But it is really hard to help when it’s only one-sided. Eventually the relationship frays.

Thank you for this beautiful video, Eugenia. I relate to your story in many ways - with friends and family. I'm encouraged by your strength and wisdom and where you find inspiration. I wrote down the Gu Cheng poem. Most people give up on their dreams and they feel diminished by seeing someone fearlessly pursuing their dreams like you, rather than taking inspiration to pursue their own dreams. It's sad to lose connection with people you love but we are only given this one life to live. I recently saw a video by Oprah called "who she think she is" - advising us to surround ourselves with people who want the best for us... not people who want us to keep them comfortable.
