As a therapist who has very few male clients, I am so happy to see content like this out there. Men can do such amazing work in therapy. They often think they are worse at expressing emotions than what they actually are. They can be so analytical of their own minds which makes for awesome clients. So don’t doubt yourself! Have confidence in your ability to do work because it is there! I promise you that! I had a male client the other day, after less than ten sessions, say he is the happiest he has been in his entire life! He put in the work and he changed his life! He amazes me each week with the work he accomplishes and comes in almost every week just ready to do some work. Love working with him! I look forward to our sessions and am sad when they are ending haha. (Plus, any therapist knows the best work always is within the last 10-15 mins of the session!) Men, come to therapy!!! You, your emotions, and your experiences are all valid here!

I would if I could afford it. And last time I went to therapy, about 8 years ago, it was difficult to dump my trauma on a practical stranger as she smiled and nodded and told me how strong I was. I know she meant well, but that was hard and I don't know if I can ever go back to therapy. I don't really see any other options with everything I'm going through and still dealing with, but I can't afford therapy anyway. Ugh this is hard.

As a therapist, many of my male clients are often some of my favorites to have as they come in ready to work! The men that make that decision to come to therapy are some of the strongest men I’ve met emotionally. Not the weakest. That is a huge misconception. It takes bravery to open up and to go against societal expectations!
@ABCD-oy4fo
@ABCD-oy4fo Рік тому
women just come to chat, yeah?
@jesswinter
@jesswinter Рік тому
Why just because I said this about male clients would I be saying the opposite about my clients that are women? Also, I have had non-binary clients as well so it can’t possibly just be one gender pitted against the other in my mind. I work with three genders (so far) and I am never trying to compare them to each other. Saying a positive about one gender does not immediately mean I feel a certain way about another gender. Im just naming a general strength of that identity-type of client. Not everything is a battle. I am a woman myself and I know I have done great work in therapy - far before I was a therapist. Also, just because a client is more challenging does not mean there is anything wrong with them so I hope my statement does not come off that way either. Due to the culture or version of society that people grow up in, they are going to present differently in therapy and that is the beautiful thing about my job. Every client has different strengths and weaknesses and it is my job to help them see those strengths and how they can use them in their life. And also to show them how many of their weaknesses are actually strengths as well. My original comment is a result of society often teaching men to be “fixers” and constantly looking for solutions to problems. It makes them tend to analyze their own issues and minds very early on within our work. I mentioned this in a comment in hopes to encourage more men to seek therapy as I have seen that many men feel that women are better at expressing emotions and would be better clients in therapy. I wanted to express to those men that they have strengths when it comes to mental health and that they make great clients as well!

@Caitlin12221
@Caitlin12221 Рік тому
it would make way more sense had the mole not been in therapy before... I mean there are plenty of men who never go to therapy and it's obviously incredibly difficult to tell if someone's speaking from their own experience from the past or the present lol

This is one time the mole was obvious to me. He said "My dad's a therapist and my mom's a counselor." That's exactly who they'd select as the mole; someone who inherently knows a lot about the subject so they can't be wheedled out. They even mentioned that in a post-interview wrap-up but nobody targeted him or suspected him after.
@las1129356
@las1129356 Рік тому
At the start of the video, Cirrus said that he had been going to therapy since 2019 and had only seen one therapist. However, when he was about to be eliminated he stated that he had been seeing the same therapist for two years. 2019 was not two years ago, so that made me suspicious of him.

@@jubilee I'd love to see 5 chronological liars (who aren't allowed to tell any truths about their lives) vs. 1 person who only tells the truth. It'd be really fun if the one honest person had an unbelievable life story, to throw people off. I'd gladly watch a whole series of that concept!

Honestly, I knew he was the mole as soon as he said: I think the type of therapy we''re using/they said is... Nobody's therapist is going to explain in that detail what they're using. They don't so obviously go down a list or specific path.
