I think nails is ok. It does increase your self esteem so much and it's something so simple. I try to get my daughter to get hers done and she want, she says she's beautiful the way she is and I love this.

That's what I feel these parents do in some cases is try to make up for their lack of or loss of. Trying to relive their unhappiness thru their kids. Now it's going to be harder for these kids to find themselves because everything is based on appearance. I'm glad my daughter feels good in her own skin and I by far am no beauty queen, but I am what God made me and I always taught daughter that people should like you for who you are on the inside, not what you look like on the outside. ❤️❤️❤️

I both agree and disagree with this comment. My parents pushed me to do a lot of things that I didn’t want to do at the beginning, but I’m glad they did because I ended up getting into sports and meeting friends ect, I think it’s a good thing to push your kids to do lots of different things, plus pageants do require some confidence and social skills they learn as long as you teach them to not be full of themselves and that winning isn’t everything like most these moms teach there kids that if u don’t get the big crown or trophy then they didn’t win. So I agree but don’t agree. I guess it just depends on the situation. But I do prefer to push your kids to do a lot and to get them to do something they prob wouldn’t normally try.

@Margie I read the whole thing as a kid, I also read other religious material. The way you teach books is what matters, nothing is dangerous for a child to read as long as a parent puts it in proper context.

So the child knows names of books of the Bible-is does she have any meaningful understanding of what any of these books are about?

Exactly what I said. Definitely moms living through their daughters. And kids are people pleasers and Karmen isn't going to voice how much she dislikes it, because she doesn't want to disappoint or make her mom sad or mad.

@Trinity M As a mom of 7 kids I can tell the difference and it seems like to me that this little girl wants to do other things than compete in pageants. I am not saying that she doesn't enjoy doing it because she may to a point but when a child is acting like this little girl is it means they don't feel up to doing it. She should not be forced to compete if she has lost interest. Her parents need to see that and care about how their daughter is feeling about it. I know kids throw tantrums but if a child is throwing a tantrum over something that is supposedly fun for them then there is a problem. They clearly do not want to do it and it has no longer become fun for them.

Well, self confidence is a good quality to have. Some adults go to specific classes to try and get it. But I get your point 😊

Well for young children I would not say this is something positive to put them through, but for like pre-teens or teens I do believe it teaches them to speak in front of large groups of people as well as thinking on their feet depending on the type of pageant they go to. If there’s interview for example it also teaches them that for the future. I do believe that it is an awful environment for such children, especially the glitz pageants.

So she’s been forced to learn a completely useless list of books of the bible 🙄 Yes it’s very nice that she can learn a long list of things, but seriously? She’d be better off being able to list the elements of the periodic table, or all the amendments of the Constitution or something actually useful in life 🙄

Fact is they usually end up looking so much worse all dressed up lol but they love it. It’s part of the fun for them if they really enjoy it. I agree natural is prettier on children but they’re not trying to be natural. They’re trying to dress up like their favorite big pageant girl 🤷🏼‍♀️. It’s just part of the fun for them. No one sees it that way and it’s kinda very heartbreaking tbh.

@@stephellis4837 you're right. Lots of the girls really have fun, and as long as they want it, and enjoy it it's cool. However, I don't like how adult some of the makeup, bathing suits, and outfits are, but I'm not a parent to human children, so my opinion may not matter, but that's just my personal opinion and it's not like the kids are dressed up like that in everyday life. I guess it's like a dress up contest with prizes

@@aryabolton2949 totally agree with you. I just hate when people are so negative with it. It can be a good thing, educational, fun. They learn their talents and so on. If a child doesn’t like it by NO means should they be made to be a part of it.

@@stephellis4837 absolutely! In some cases it helps a child who may be shy, or insecure, gain self confidence, and social skills. It's not always a parent living through the child by any means, which is what most people jump on from the start, do kids get tired, and cranky, absolutely. But that doesn't mean they're forced into it. I used to be kinda judgy, but then I learned more about it, and saw that I was just being narrow minded. Would I put my child in pageants? If I had one? No. But if they wanted to try it, and enjoyed it, and it was a positive experience for them? Sure.
