16 seasons, 11k+ rec&rush yds, 700+ receptions, 78 offensive TDs, 5 punt return TDs, and only 5 lost fumbles. What a career, gotta love Joey Galloway! Truly a class act on, and off, the field - dude had wheels.

There isn't one WR in the history of mankind that could have been productive with the Cowboys during Galloway's tenure. Galloway never really got to play with a great QB until he was a Patriot and by then he was 38 years old.

It's a shame he's never had a great QB his entire career, it's remarkable how consistent great QB's were absent nearly his entire career. Rick Mirer, John Friesz, Warren Moon's LAST starting seasons, John Kitna, 1 game with Troy Aikman, Quincy Carter, Anthony Wright, Chad Hutchinson, Ryan Leaf, Brian Greise, Chris Simms, Bruce Gradkowski, and 2 seasons with Jeff Garcia. Who knows what could have been if he found himself on teams with the elite of his youth. Peyton Manning? Kurt Warner? A 1995-2007 Brett Favre throwing to Joey Galloway? That Arm Strength and Speed combination? It would have been absolutely lethal, staggering....

"it was purely that speed that cost the Cowboys a lot of draft picks for a player who turned out wasn't that good at that point of his career" SMH... Listen Charean Williams, I'm a Cowboys fan and Dallas was HORRIFIC when they traded for Galloway... not his fault they had guys like Clint Stoener, Chad Hutchinson, Ryan Leaf, and Quincy Carter trying to get him the ball. You must have missed the rest of his career post-Dallas when he had NFL quality QBs throwing him the ball again...

When you put it in that context, it's ironic that a similar issue happened with Moss in Oakland and people forgave him due to the Black Hole being quite literally that for talent at the time. I suppose when you throw that level of draft capital at a player and he cant rise an entire team up as high profile as the Cowboys its a bigger deal. Rarely will one player do that, and it's not just talent. You cant just be one dimensional, you have to be the guy everyone looks toward to for better and not for worse in the locker room in the public etc. You look at the names of QB's you listed, Galloway was never going to be the transcendent type to ever overcome that.
@josedopwell9645
@josedopwell9645 5 років тому
Seems Joey Galloway was the definition of the dependent position WR is. The reason why WRs almost never win MVP AND QBs so often do. Jerry Rice was a great receiver but how might his career have turned out without having not just one, but two Hall of Fame QBs in Montana and Young as well as a Hall of Fame offensive mind in Bill Walsh as head coach? With his work ethic perhaps he puts together a very good career. But with the talent around him in critical positions he became arguably the greatest player ever. (I'm still partial to Jim Brown, who walked away at the top of his game after an MVP season because Art Modell tried to strong arm him and football didn't pay as much as Hollywood. So he didn't have the "twilight of career" tack on years that many superstars have, including Jerry Rice).
@supersexysega

The Bucs had a bunch of mediocre QB's trying to get Galloway the ball as well. How he had 3 straight 1,000 yd seasons with the Bucs at his age with the QB's he played with is mind boggling.
@readynowforever3676

james falasca Joey tore his ACL the first year. They brought Joey in for Troy Aikman. Troy was gone the following year, and Joey was healthy with that 4.1 speed. But the Dallas Cowboys leadership has been a complete failure since all the vestiges of Jimmy Johnson disappeared. 😀So don’t blame Joey for the Cowboys mediocrity. Their problem is Jerry Jones.

If it is true, it would have been hand timed. 4.18 hand time converts to about 4.3 with today's semi automatic timing. Plus the 40 doesn't measure how fast these guys run. It only measures quickness and partial acceleration. It does not measure top speed.
