Especially later on in the film near the end, the machine was separated from its original creator to back up your statement. So the machine may of been in a stressed state from mass production of the machines but also could be that the machine had notice what the nation has done to his owner and may of wanted revenge and turn against the nation and wipe out humanity.

@@megatitan8161 Also, considering that the Scientist was pretty much spared of the gas attack, as well as how his house is one of the few structures almost entirely untouched by the conflict, it heavily implies that everything the machine did, was all done to try and free it's creator.

It wasn't the problem of destroying the machines, but rather... Evading the gas bombs they used, which apparently wiped out life as we knew it.

Resistance Commander yeah I think the scientist was wrong about all life being wiped out I think 9 takes place I a wiped out community not the entire world cause think of it bunkers air sealed rooms hazmat suits bullet prove vests heck even green houses or underground farms

It is also likely that there wasn't a strong enough understanding of the nature of the gas, let alone how to effectively combat it, humanity simply did not have enough time to figure out a solution that functioned. Gas disperses after a while, sure, but the Fabricator can produce seemingly endless supplies (it is also likely the machine simply improved upon chemical weapons the Chancellor already had access to, giving them more than enough ammunition to exterminate humanity as we know it).

In my own theory I think Brain didn’t wipe out all the plants and animals because he saw them as no threat to his machines Dominance on earth Plus we only see the effects of the gas on the city…meaning the steel behemoths only wiped out life in the world’s cities and farmland but left most habitats alone…if brain wanted to wipe out all the plants and animals he would’ve done so Even if he did wipe out all land animals and plants life would reclaim the land if the complex life forms in the oceans were ignored by the steel behemoths on their conquest of wiping out humanity Also animals would’ve hidden themselves from the machines…the only reason we don’t see animals traverse the destroyed cities is because of their natural fear of humans and maybe a new fear of the steel behemoths Another thing that backs up this theory is the flamethrower and explosions throughout the film…if they’re was no oxygen in the atmosphere then fire wouldn’t be possible…but one guy claimed that it would stay the same…but oxygen is not only produced by plants But also the ocean and it’s plankton populations so Brain and the steel behemoths ether are incredibly stupid in avoiding the plant and animal life around the world or just didn’t see them as a threat to their dominance my thought is on the ladder I’ll only see life being completely extinct if the sequel shows us that plants and animals in the wilderness around the planet were also wiped out by the steel behemoths and their deadly gas bombs Other than that I Still believe earth would eventually recover from both humanity’s damage on the land and the destruction that their destructive A.I. Creations did onto the earth as well And nature will help recover the world and eventually plants will regrow and animals will return to these abandoned/destroyed cities around the world expanding new territories As a famous fictional Mathematician once said Life cannot be contained,life breaks free,it expands to new territories, and crashes through barriers painfully,maybe dangerously,life…uh finds a way - Ian Malcom (Jeff Goldblum) [1993] But hey it’s just a theory I came up with for all we know in this film’s universe life could be extinct until the ending of the film when the microbes were reintroduced to the earth

Unfortunately we may never really be sure since the movie only takes part in one part of the world.

I think it has more of a 1940s Nazi germany style. Mostly because of the factories and the look of the ruined house. Also the chancelor itself, and the look of the Two legged robots, they have a German like type of helmet

My theory is that "the country" in the plot is in a cold war with other country and did many experiment to build machine that can make war machine jn mass in order to prepear if there is a war. This is suceeded by in the story, the creation of the fabrication machine which create the walking battle bot in the movie and other various robotic aircraft . The war then soon happen started by a massive fullscale attack of combined robot and human infantry advancing to a neighbouring country. The war then ends by the "country" victory. But despite that soon the fabrication machine which other than have the ability to think of its own, feel like the human only using him and the scientist that create him to kill other human. This make him feel that all human (other than the scientist) are warmonger monster and soon turn against them which cause all robot that the machine created to turn on the human. This cause a great battle between the human and the robot.

For all we know the machine genocide on the world might’ve taken years to complete and the scientist looked pretty young when he made brain but was very old when he made 9 So this war could’ve lasted for decades and when the scientist was making 9 almost all life was completely extinct except for the last human being that being the scientist But he put his soul into the stitchpunks and they became the last 9 life forms on earth

I think, some African countries too could be alive but in like in the most weakest stage. While I think the Americas are still thriving, trying to survive, and they must be technologically powerful too, in order to survive the machines

@@Shregurun93 I came across this on WMG on TV tropes for this movie (Which might explain the plot hole for this movie that was never explained for how the B.R.A.I.N. was able to literally kill all life on earth off) The World of 9 is all in the scientist’s head (here’s what it says) The war actually ended long ago with the fabrication machine’s destruction, but the scientist, having given up on machinery and moving to chemistry, is still emotionally traumatized by the experience, almost to the point of going insane, so a small part of his mind, which is represented by the scientist, took the scientist’s personality traits, made them into the stitchpunks, and made them go off on their own to defeat the negative memories and nightmares that the war produced, with 9 representing the most positive trait. (If this is true it might explain the whole B.R.A.I.N. Literally killing all life on earth plot hole just saying?)
