That part really got me. That she was repeatedly assaulted and had the strength to keep this piece of evidence instead of completely breaking down. Even adults would struggle to have that clarity of thought at a time like that. I am so sorry that you were subjected to cruelty that you did not deserve, that no one deserves. I’m so sorry that you carry with you the pain and trauma that should not belong to you. I really hope that you are able to find a way to work through that trauma to the point where it doesn’t affect you significantly every day. I know that it never goes away like it never happened, as much as it should, but I have heard that it is possible to process it and put it as behind you as much as it’s humanly possible. And I hope that day arrives for you soon. I have complex PTSD that has crippled me to the point where I can no longer work, or leave the house much, or be the kind of mother and partner I want to be. Many times I have wanted to give up because I didn’t think it was possible to heal from that level of trauma that went on for so long. I thought that that was going to be my forever. But recently I have tried a bunch of different therapies with various results, and through psychotherapy in particular I have been able to process some of the trauma to the point where it didn’t have the same visceral impact that it did before. I wish EMDR worked for me, and I hope that I’ll get to try MDMA/psilocybin assisted therapy one day soon, but those therapies have been really affective for many PTSD and cPTSD sufferers to permanently treat their symptoms and get on with their lives. I hope you have the means to look into trauma therapies and can get the support that you need to heal. ♥️♥️

Honestly...even at 26, I can't imagine having that smart of thoughts. I have severe cptsd, severe anxiety and chronic depression (other undiagnosed stuff too more than likely) and I would probably just shut down and accept I'm powerless after I've been through repeated SA's :( I'm genuinely amazed at how strong she was and how much of a fighter she was. It's such a harrowing situation especially at 9 years old...I was 4-7 from my first SA accounts from my own brothers and I couldn't understand the situation until I was well into my teen years...

I understand it's difficult for people's emotions to allow them to recognize why some emergency communication avenues require certain criteria, but they require those criteria for a reason. Saturating emergency communication avenues with missing reports that do not meet certain criteria could affect the urgency inferred by these communications in the future. If Amber Alerts were issued for every missing child (including, say, late-teenage runaways), they would be issued frequently in some areas, and people would start to become somewhat numb to them ("meh, prolly just another runaway") and maybe even neglect reading them when they alert. Restricting Amber Alerts to the most serious cases meeting required criteria (to include detailed suspect info that they can look out for) means people will know that they are urgent situations and they'll be willing to continue to react to them with the urgency they deserve. I have become somewhat skeptical of Amber Alerts since I've noticed some that were issued that didn't meet the criteria. But, since I post all local/regional missing reports to an FB Group, I do still read them all (though, if I didn't routinely post all area missings, I would likely not read all Amber Alerts or at least not with as much immediacy). Not issuing an Amber Alert does NOT mean no one is taking steps to find the missing subject. Like in this case, other avenues can be taken to get the word out - media, canvassing, search parties, etc.

It can be, but it also can be disastrous if they do. Because you are essentially highlighting to the suspect that they are not identified and can incentivize them to kill the child before they are identified. They should have more, like a vehicle description and license plate. That way there is more of a chance to catch them before they are aware of the alert and do something bad

I was thinking the same thing! Like no way would I have let my child watch CSI at that age, but after hearing this case I’m like maybe it’s not such a bad idea 😖. I absolutely hate that children’s innocence are taken away so early, even by learning about these very real ‘monsters’ that walk among us, because of the perversion of a (significant) minority. My kids are much younger and I really don’t want to tell them about SA. But I have been having regular conversations with them about their private parts and why they mustn’t let anyone else touch them etc. Inevitably they ask “why”, a completely legitimate question - “what’s wrong with someone else looking at or touching them?” - kids that only stopped wearing diapers and getting their butt wiped by their parents and childcare teachers months ago. How do you even answer that 😞 Or how do you tell a 6 year old why they shouldn’t just trust any grown up, even a police officer, and what gut feelings are, and why they shouldn’t run out the front door to accept the package from the Amazon delivery driver… I absolutely hate that all of this is needed. I knew what those things were, and were warned many times about it and to never go with strangers and was schooled on what to do. People take for granted about children's resilience. Though when a child catastrophises it's usually because the parent catastrophises themselves and over dramatise the scenario more than it's needed. You don't need to explain SA to your child. you just need to tell your child that they will be hurt badly, more than they'll ever see on tv and could end up dead.

I totally understand. Every parent has so have age approciate talks and decide at which age certain programms are suitable for them. Mine certainly did edit Not watch it age 9. But not all children are the same either. Dangerous situations may come in the most inexpected ways. I remember my kids (boys) playing outside around our house with walkie talkies and at the time we thought nothing of it. Years later I encountered 2 little girls walking with their walkie talkie 's on as they walked by me on the street. Then I heard a man talking to them on their line. I immediately had that feeling of my hairs standing up. I signed to them and at their walkie talkie with my finger on my mouth to them to be quiet and then whispered to them, in their ears do you know this man? They said no they did not. I told them to turn the walkie talkies off. Then explained to them I was worried ( he gave me the creeps ) and asked if they lived nearby, thankfully they live only 1 street away so I told them I think your parents should know about this and asked if it was ok if I walked them home to explain the situation to their mother. Edit- I did not want to scare them and also think its not my place to have -that talk- with a stranger. They were glad I wanted to do that and their mom who was very very grateful. She had not thought of this possibility either. Maybe nothing would have happpened or it could be a creep with more sinister ideas. You never know. Yes its sad that children can not be brought up to be able to play outside as carefree as my generation could. But thanks to modern tv and the internet they also see and understand more than we did at such a young age. Nowadays as a parents and educator you have to learn about the many dangers online yourself and also teach and protect your children from that, often highly underestimated, danger too. Can't say I envy those parents.

My children are watching all the crime shows lol. That’s how I was taught about the world. My parents words didn’t have as much weight as they probably would have hoped, because I wasn’t seeing these things happen in real life. Watching a show where they deal with re-enactments of real cases was much more power for me. Helped me with my gut feelings and character judgment.

They all are extremely resilient people. The mother refusing to leave even with her conditioning declining until the paramedics had to FORCE her into the ambulance because she was going to keep going. The brother trying to attack the intruder TWICE despite taking a lot of hits to the face the first time. Both the mother and son not letting them being beaten bloody in the kitchen stop them from getting up and the mom chasing after the car while her brother went and got help. Then there is that badass, clever 9yo. She was not only stabbed (which, when watching I completely pushed out of my thoughts becasue of the other horrors she was going through, but she was assaulted repeatedly/horribly, calmed herself enough to manipulate her captor, gather evidence and HIDE the evidence right under the AHs nose AND remembered enough detail on top of that to get him pretty much captured as soon as he let her go. She did all that while in both mental and physical pain/distress (that required medical attention!). She is what my therapists would call resilient and Im glad she was able to get the therapy she needed to heal and is moving towards helping others and being advocates for others who are missing/experienced violence. If it wasn't for her ability to get him caught right away, who knows if he would have done this to another little girl (he most definitely stalked her/learned her routine to anticipate when she would alone, which is a very 'dedicated' or 'knowledgeable' predator who may have even done crap like this before, especially since him making her take showers after the assaults were 100% a tactic to remove the evidence left behind.) Overall imo she saved more than just her life when she was able to get free.

It was pretty badass of the girl to open the door for a strange man. No wonder she was so easily kidnapped.

I have PTSD from a crime committed against me as a teen. I never talked to anyone about what happened until over 20 years later. I think watching crime stories helps me process what happened to me and gives me satisfaction to see the perpetrator caught and punished. And maybe I have a sense of gratitude because I wasn't killed unlike so many more unfortunate victims of sex crime. I never watch unsolved crimes. Its too frustrating. Maybe because the perpetrators against me were never punished.

There's levels to a guy criminality, he could of killed her family, she would of had less hope if she didn't hear her brother on the tv station or seen her mom alive before being taken and the how in the long drive, he let her go instead of buried her. It was really strong connection with her family that kept her going and high intuition to gain his trust and luck enough to let her go. It was really sad how the long drive she was thinking about the end while still holding on to hope.

This is a tip for womens. If you have long hair that makes it easy. The kidnappers could grab your hair and pull you to them and do not wear anything rich because they would know you are rich. They would ask for money to free you.

So do not be worry that much. The chances of you being kidnapped are low but never zero and always carry a tiny weapon.

Women are able to fight back, always fight back, we're not fragile barbie dolls. Who cares if we're born weaker, I always hear this excuse, you can train to be bigger and stronger if you really never give up. Not all men are as strong as you think, it's easy to catch them off guard if you fight back with all your anger and might despite being a woman. I'm sure you are doing your very best as a mother. My mother worked 2 jobs, my brother was my father figure due to our father being absent, and my upbringing wasn't cookie cut. You can teach and expose your kids to as much as you think could one day help them, but overall they are children. I'm a mother now of a 3 year old, and I try and find balance on not letting my past affect her enjoying being a kid. I'm sure you are an amazing mother, and you are doing well💙

I’ve always felt it best to arm them with knowledge. We always hope for the best and pray that things like this don’t happen, but KNOWING they do offers a level of protection. They’re not naive to the dangers out there, and they know enough to be aware of their surroundings. I also want them to have their wits about them and be able to pay attention to what’s happening so they can fight back or look for opportunities to escape. If they’re unaware of people and how hateful they can be, panic is far more likely and that makes a bad situation worse. They little girl in this story was brave and attentive, despite a terrifying situation.

Unfortunately that is no longer the case. When people had morals and values child molesters would be attacked in prison. Today it's rare that a child molester is beaten in prison. We've moved to a different time. Nobody cares anymore about punishing these guys in prison anymore. Very rare.

@@Dave_of_Mordor thats the catch, while it may seem like quite a light sentence, its not all that happens, you ser, its very common for these kind of people to be hatred and beaten by the other inmates, to the point that its not uncommon for them to "commit" """"su!c!de""""" after a few months, if you understand what i mean.

@disneytoysr4fun975 I found out years later that it was actually a gang that basicly would kidnap children for wuhdu and I got a certain mark that was quite known for this gang to be a target for these things, apparently my mom was warned that in that country "someone like me" will be a target but she didn't believe in all that and thought it was nothing till years later I motioned it

Some also get severely disfigured and forced to beg on the street at popular tourist destinations, far away from their home, so the kidnappers can profit from people’s sympathy for the child. Growing up, I was never allowed to go to a friend’s house alone, walk down the street alone, play at a park by myself. My mother watched me like a hawk. Not until I was much older and learned about SA, then became a parent myself, did I realise the severity of the fear and anxiety my mother would have had about keeping me safe there. Thankfully I live in another country now where it’s not such a big problem. Now we worry about kids getting SA’ed by adults known and trusted by the family. This world is so f’ed up.
