The book that I am currently reading is Letters to Milena by my favorite novelist and writer of all time Franz Kafka. The book is a collection of his correspondences with Milena Jesenská, a Czech journalist and writer with whom he first met at a café in Prague in 1920 thanks to his close friend Max Brod, and who was acquainted with Milena. At the time, Milena was unhappily married to Ernst Pollak and she was seeking connections (intellectual and emotional) outside of her marriage.
Despite the numerous obstacles Milena faced (including Kafka’s health) and not living in the same city as Kafka, it didn’t stop their bond from deepening through their correspondence.
Kafka's letters to Milena are deeply personal where he expressed his thoughts, feelings, struggles, and reflections on numerous aspects of life, literature, and his relationship with Milena.
Through these letters, we are offered a poignant insight into Kafka's inner world and his struggles with intimacy, communication, and the creative process.
Have you read any books by Kafka? Are you into Classic Literature?
