He was a great interviewer. When Hannah went on talk shows in America, a lot of the interviewers didn't quite know how to work with her personality. They laughed, and then awkwardly paused, and then just went on to the next question. They were completely unprepared to interview a person on the autism spectrum. This interviewer actively listened and went with the flow, understanding that she wasn't going to be able to answer things the same way that other guests do.

He is a good interviewer. I have been frustrated a lot lately by interviewers who don't listen to the answers to their questions. Also don't let the interviewee finish thoughts before they fire the next question. A pleasure to watch.

There are tons of us. I've always liked Philip Larkin's comment: "You have to distinguish between things that seemed odd when they were new but are now quite familiar, such as Ibsen and Wagner, and things that seemed crazy when they were new and seem crazy now, like 'Finnegan's Wake' and Picasso." I’m with her. Monet kept his house, and left it in tact to France, so that folks can visit it and see his gardens and his work spaces. Also during the German occupation of France he refused to leave or stop working. Paraphrasing a little - basically he said if they want me out they will have to come and remove me. - Excellently bad ass. Also, I love her rawness and truth. It’s freeing

If you take a look at works like "Guernica" and think "Yeah, but he could be violent..." than you don't need to bother with art history in the first place. Lol I want to hug my autistic/Aspergers spectrum friends too, but after a chat I was happy to settle for a high five and a fist bump and one I’ve never touched. Still makes me want to hug them cos I love them. It’s not hard to just ask someone what they are comfortable with. It makes you look good to them if you can be authentic and not hide your questions, after all that’s part of them and how they communicate = they don’t understand the masks and they can’t wear them either. That’s the defining characteristic of this communication style, and you would do well to just be honest.

Bonnie the plebiscite was horrific. Coming from New Zealand I don’t even remember a debate because it just made sense to me that if someone wants to get married, unless they are already married, then there should be no problem (I was also quite young). I 100% agree with Hannah too, it really was toxic even though I’m lucky enough to not have witnessed much as I’m not in Aussie and my Australian friends were all for marriage equality and have been for as long as I have known them.

If it made you angry, at least it still made you think. Think of the brave speeches made just in the past 100 years which challenged and changed society. Consider eloquent words and the broaching of socially "unspeakable" concepts as worthy and I'll consider you worthy of being part of the matrix of the human race. ACTIVELY DO any one of the things mentioned above, including any of your own suggestions, and I'll be proud of you, too.

Hannah says it perfectly in relation to the Australian Plebiscite. I really had no idea the toll it would take on me either and it did envoke shame and guilt for aspects of myself which I had no control over.
