Accent Wall from Pallet Wood

In the new shop I decided to extent the pallet wood wall so I have more room for tools. Wood Accent walls are super easy to do and can be easily removed if you put the planks on a sheet of plywood. This way it’s not a permanent design feature and can be removed at a later time if you get tired of it. Just make sure you use a screw and not glue the planks where the plywood is mounted to the wall.

Don’t really like the overall look. But all the doors and windows in my house are trimmed the same way. Built over 100 years ago! Makes a nice solid looking doorway.

Run furring strips vertically instead of plywood. Also, paint your background black, brown, etc., so you don't see through cracks as noticeably.

I've never seen anyone cut and fit wood around conduit. Usually you just un bolt it from the wall and put the wood behind it. You mustn't be familiar with electrical.

while it's beautiful, I think the idea of using pallet wood on this type of project was lost along the way.. I did an accent wall in my garage as well, and the only cost was the finish nails.. no glue, and the backer was reused kraft paper ..shoot the nails (3 or 4 per board) at a few different angles..they hold just fine.. plus if you every want to swap them for a different look it's easy..I did use one nice one 2x3 around an inch thick screwed into the studs for hanging stuff on.. beautiful project all the same, and it's great seeing the wood repurposed no matter what.. just seems like a bit of overkill for an intentionally reused scrap project..I'm a heehaw peon/stoner so don't listen to my rambling 😂😂

I would have done something different with the conduit so that it didn’t need to be cut in that way, but I’m an electrician, and wouldn’t do the carpentry, so there’s that. Good job.

I wonder if that could be used on a deck floor. OSB plywood base with half thick pallet planks? Is the combo strong enough? The regular technique always looks too bulky.
