They look like they have really good potential. It may take more Windows updates to park on the LP-E cores on the SoC more so it can shut down the compute tile more, some battery results are really good and some are only a bit improved.

I think the new naming scheme is really dumb. And the cinebench scores are pretty low, worse than current i7 and ryzen 7 chips and slower than upcoming ryzen 5 chips. Not excited.

@@phero6933I do agree they need to simplify the naming scheme again. In terms of scores I think performance will get better with time as drivers get updated and optimizations happen

im excited. for the price point and performance level, i would say its doing quite well. this is intels new MCM design so i would expect issues, but it seems to hang quite well with established tech. i think it has a scheduling problem though because some techtuber benchmarks show it all over the place from run to run.

I am concerned about issues of hinges getting damaged. The ASUS linked has an alumunium body, so I think thats not an issue for it. What about the ACER?

Seems like the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU is for office workers that may occasionally light game or light video editing. Think of the office secretary recording the holiday party. The Inte Core Ultra 9 185H is more for gaming & Machine Learning with a more powerful CPU. The ARC GPU is still the same regardless of the Intel CPU picked. The power of the ARC GPU is between 5.76 TFLOPs to 6 TFLOPS. That is nearly the same as M1 MacBook Pro. No where near the AMD nor Nvidia RTX GPUs (8 TFLOPS or higher), but it is at respectable levels now. The old Intel Iris XE was at a low 1.69 TFLOPS of GPU power.

Not much of a difference between the Ultra 7 155H and Ultra 9 185H other than a few MHz more on SINGLE core tasks. all cpus have the NPU with 34 TFlops

What's premiere pro with after effects layers stacked on top of each other / after effects by itself? I'm looking into whether I should get a laptop with the core ultra or the M1 pro 16 inch

This is a tough one. Maybe with the NPU optimizations premiere pro will be good on the Core Ultra but that is very GPU dependent as well. So depends on if you are getting a dedicated GPU or not with the windows machine.

Looks great. Arc GPU outperforms AMD's best (780m), modest CPU multi-thread boost, touchscreen, 1440p webcam, 12 hour battery life, extremely fair price. Only wish it came with a Core Ultra 165H instead of the 155H.

ARC GPU doesn't outperform the AMD 780M GPU. The CPU (Ultra 7 165H) does outperform the AMD Ryzen 7 7840 HS. Just factor in the task you do and which is getting used more, the GPU or the CPU. If it is leaning towards the CPU, the new Intel CPU & ARC GPU wins. If it leans towards the GPU, then the AMD Ryzen CPU & GPU wins.

@@akin242002it does beat 780M, some users got beta drivers for Arc, and when tested for example tomb raider it beat 7840U by about 10-15%..... What is more interesting is the lower the wattage went the better Intel outperformed 7840U..... It's promising indeed just need a month of driver optimisations, new Intel handheld will be solid for gaming

I am surprised that YT creators are going OTT with the graphics, maybe because of the "partnership" with Intel? But the new ARC iGPU has just caught up, and the leap was seemingly big due to how bad the Iris iGPU has been for three years. So, it doesn't deserve anywhere near the hype I am seeing, as all it has done is catch up, as welcome as that is. As for the new neural engine, it's great they are finally onboard, as Apple has been doing this for three years! Still, it will help. As for efficiency, this is a complex equation as it sips juice doing low-rent tasks like idling and playing back 1080p video, but it will be less efficient than AMD and Apple for every other task. All in all, I do not get the hyperbole flying around. But let us wait for the tests to arrive in January rather than the marketing from sponsored previews.

I agree with the catch up part. The reason why I tested it so much is because it was the thing I could show because a lot of the drivers etc just aren’t optimized quite yet. The Integrated graphics were so bad prior so it’s just exciting for the end consumer to get this kind of bump if they are looking at an Intel Machine. For me the more competition the better and this is good news IMO. There is more to come I believe so let’s see what happens.

The new Arc GPU slightly surpasses AMD's best (780m), which AMD is still using in their 8040 series that launches next year, so Intel didnt just catch up they slightly surpass AMD even though they used to be far behind.

Iris xe 96EU in intel 11th gen H series coupled with LPDDR4X RAM were the fastest igp at that time, well not so in games because intel sucks at driver optimization Until 680m show up intel is way behind, yeah it's a good thing they can beat 780m, intel arc do have more brute force than 780m,but still intel driver not optimize For video intel well known for it's efficiency It's a good thing that intel arc and 780m exist just hope intel arc get to desktop 15th gen Seems to be 780m has better power efficiency than intel arc

Iris XE chips were not bad at all. To be honest they were one of the best things to happen in the iGPU world and one of the few areas intel was innovating on during the last few years.

Any idea how this might perform with simple 4K video editing?

If you use Divinci Resolve you will be happy! Premiere you can cut 4K with 1/2 playback. While it plays back it’s not as smooth as it should and scrubbing is rough. Once AI optimization is there you should be able to edit 4K videos but Davinci Resolve is a Go!

I've been looking for a new laptop to replace my 2018 MSI GE75 (i7-8750h/GTX 1070 mobile) which gets sluggish whenever I try to multi-task more than 2 things. Purpose will be mainly for media consumption (UKposts, Netflix and light gaming) so graphical performance is not a priority but display quality is. What do you recommend?

Battery life is way better. Efficiency is way better. iGPU is now 120% faster. It has powerful NPU.

It is not. Maybe in terms of some of the benchmark numbers but this is a totally different chip. The efficiency and GPU power is on a different tier.
