Shot Caller is onw of very few Hollywood productions where the violence made me wince. Choreographed fights in the caroark seem tame by comparison - the shit they put that guy through was hardcore.

I'm a big fan of the original but if you think of it as just a cool looking movie everyone should enjoy it.

I don't see this as a remake so much as a similar movie. Granted I was very skeptical but then I watched it and was happy with it. I'm a fan of both Patrick and Jake. If they had brought a Sam Elliot character, brought in a Jeff Healey or have him drive in (and hide) and a nice car and keep spare tiresin his trunk I would have said remake. There we so many differences I would just just say it's a high level concept remake if anything. A guy named Dalton who is a bouncer at a troubled bar.

It's a Steven Seagul movie with all the slapping.

Make a new movie. This has already been done. The only thing being destroyed is creativity.

I recently read a review and this person gave it a one star. Said it wasn't realistic because bouncers don't swing first. Although, in this story, this group terrorizes that bar and physically assaulted a bartender. These reviewers are a huge joke.

You can't beat an old original classic.

The initial slapping spree feels like a homage to E-Honda from Streetfighter, as he does his 1,000 Hand Slap move and Jake is wearing a similar Hawai'ian shirt.

Jake as a tough guy, no not going to see that movie, but after watching this clip, HELL YEAH!

This movie did not need to be remade. No one will ever compare to swayze. This movie is cringe and the bad guys are even lame.

the original was and is a classic Swayze film, why cant anyone stop trying to "re-imagine" them? re-makes are never as good as the originals.....

As a bouncer for 20 years before I quit, Jake did this wrong. You definitely get them outside and try to talk them down, but no slapping. The moment the first guy swings, you put him down so hard and mercilessly that the others think he might be dead and choose to take their friend to the hospital. Otherwise, you will definitely lose the numbers game. Your fellow bouncers are your "brothers" and there to watch each others' backs. Never challenge that many guys by yourself without knowing your boys have your back if it goes sideways.

Somewhere Patrick Swayze is watching unimpressed and surprised they had the audacity to remake his masterpiece.

Pretty cool. Although, I do have issues with the framing and the lighting. Like, it could have been storyboarded a little better. Great scene, regardless!

I have been in bars all over the country, biker ones too. Never have I seen the crap Hollywood puts out about bars in movies. I get it that it is about fight scenes, but seriously...

Not every movie idea is going after Best Picture, if you accept the movie as a cheesy movie, it hits the right chords.
