Yes von killed people, but we can only blame him to some degree. think about where he grew up, and what was happening around him as he was growing up His dad was a gangster and died when von was 11, he had a traumatic childhood and as he grew up he was desensitized to Violence, he did not completely understand how bad his actions were. And he was brought up being told "kill or be killed" so he did what he thought he had to do to survive. (also he did what he had to do to avoid jail time). Yes he did not always have good intentions but he was human and people will do some pretty messed up things trying to stay free. He was at his breaking point and he made harsh decisions.
