This week I team up with Drew from the UKposts Channel Playing with Sticks. Drew lives in Alaska and camps with his young family in small travel trailers. He has great tips for anyone planning a trip to Alaska. After watching his tips, head over to his channel where I will share tips from our trip to Alaska in 2019.

I have been meaning to get on the computer and comment on your channel for weeks! I watch on my TV and of course no comments there. So wanted to say hello and what an inspiration you are! I'm ticking through your videos on the channel and honestly have loved them all. I'll call out a couple highlights - tip on the phone on your trekking pole and your windshield cover! You inspire me for sure and I may just suck it up and try to do a cover for my truck. I also have my trailer curtains made out of warm windows (great minds think alike). Keep up the good work, oh and your RAD 3 year review also peaked my interest. Great job!!!!!

Thanks so much! We also watch on our TVs so I know what you mean. If you do decide to make a cover for your truck, my brother will sell his mesh fabric. It is $10/yard and is 72" wide (+shipping). I haven't found anyone else that has that width. Let me know if you have any questions about it. Happy to do a FaceTime/zoom call if you need visuals.

For sure they can be bad. We didn't try to fight it and just stayed inside the van.

All good tips from both channels. I drove the Alaska hwy (Allan) over a dozen times. First in 1974 and last in 2019. I never got a flat tire on any of my trips and the chips in my windshield seemed like it was always in Alaska. I saw way more wildlife when I was on the road early, like 5AM. Slow down especially if towing. Frost heaves are nasty. One mosquito can ruin a good nights sleep 😬 Take your time driving through Canada. B.C. And the Yukon are my favorite.
@FromShetoMe

Wow, in 1974 the roads must have been all dirt. I had a swim coach who drove it on a Honda 90 in the late 60’s. Crazy.

@@FromShetoMe The first trip was actually in 1961 from Alaska to the east coast and back with my folks. It was pretty much a narrow dirt road back then. I think we did have some difficulty on that trip😬😊

We did the trip a few years ago with a 15 year old mid sized 4 cyl SUV pulling a 5x8 teardrop trailer. Loved it so much we did it again and as soon as the pandemic allows us to cross boarders we will do it even again. We are Canadian so not quite so far to drive as lower 48 peeps. 90% of the road issues can be eliminated by at least 80% by just slowing down a bit. In the words of the old song, keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel. Masterful collaboration you two, pat yourself on the back, how they should be done! Not one mention of a Jakery battery! Just solid info... PS: In Canada, especially the north, if it isn't signed as private property or no camping/overnights allowed then you can.

We were hoping someone would explain what is or isn't allowed in Canada. Thank you! And that is amazing that you have made the drive more than once and are ready to do it again. Up here most folks do it once and that is about it. Love your adventurous spirit!
