POLL: should every player with any criminal conviction be barred from the NHL for life (not factoring in admissibility issues)? On a related note, even if the WJC players are found not guilty, they could be barred from the NHL. If convicted, they can still continue overseas after serving their prison sentences (if any). Take Ben Johnson, for example. He was convicted of sexual assault in 2016 for 2 2013 incidents and sentenced to 3 years in prison, paroled after serving 1 year, returned to his home country of the USA, signed with Cincinnati for 3 years, then Kansas City, then overseas after the Mavs cut him. The only way they can be barred from playing overseas would be the IIHF honouring their NHL bans, which happened with Todd Bertuzzi after he attacked Steve Moore on the ice

Mailloux was charged (not convicted, there is a difference and you should learn it) and charged for offensive photography. If you wanted to put in a rule like this a lot more people then Mailloux would be banned from the NHL. In terms of that proposed rule, Mailloux and Matthews would be treated the same just so you get the scope of the rule.

⁠⁠@@boerhaeruined? Luckily, nobody outside Mailloux’s circle knows who she even is. The pic he took only shows her hair and shoulders too. What he did was bad for sure, but I think the slander and hate he received for years did more damage…
