Islam's control time is worth more to the judges due to his association with Khabib... Islam did have him in round 1 for sure but he got beat up bad by the end of the fight... everyone says damage is king- but ever since Khabib beat Conor the UFC only cares about wrestling... which is unfortunate since (for example) Jon Jones is mainly a stand up guy and he beat the fuck out of DC not once but twice... and DC is a fucking animal. one of the best wrestlers I am aware of. Anyway this was a great fight.

how are takedowns nothing? youre just giving excuses to low skilled fighters who cant properly defend against or counter the takedown attempt in the first place lol just putting your bodyweight on top of someone you took down will make them struggle to breath and burn out their muscles if theyre trying to push you off or stand up, plus theyre panicking trying to avoid being submitted

A takedown without significant damage or threats of submission are meaningless in the scoring criteria, damage will always trump any type of control or accumulative strikes.
