The Russian-born Ukrainian Sasha Volkov was one of the first Soviets to come over to the NBA in the late 1980s. He was agile, could handle the ball and see the floor at 6-10. A poor man's Detlef Schrempf, perhaps? Here he used his pump-fake-and-drive game to go at an older Larry Bird and then act accordingly. Blair Rasmussen was probably thrilled about the looks he was getting from Volkov. November 30, 1991.
