oww... the good old 1050ti. Brings back memories haha. My first custom built pc (by myself obviously) had a G4560, MSI GTX 1050ti Gaming x and the MSI B250-m. I have never been hapier than when I pressed the power botton for the first time seeing that it was posting. I will forever be impressed how that small little beast has sooo much power. Thanks for the great memories (even tho these 2 GPUs look nothing like the MSI GAMING X version lol)

Aliexpress sellers do come through pretty often, AE just doesn't vet their sellers all that well, so they will let scammers run rampant until they get enough bad reviews, wish just doesn't care unless the actual manufacturer complains I think. If you find weird SKUs sometimes they are for other markets. I think Linus tried to do this same exercise and wound up with a legit GPU, but it was a Mish mash of 2 other SKUs but was legit and made only for the Chinese market for computer cafes and arcades.

Aliexpress is actually a decent source for certain stuff. Especially older hardware like laptop boards and panels.

I recognized that card right from the Thumbnail. I have long story with these expedition edition cards by Asus.

Would like to have heard more about the wish card. How did you "fix" the bios? What was it actually?

Personally, I've had mixed experiences with both Wish, AliExpress and also BangGood - with each of them, sometimes I got good stuff, sometimes I got scammed up the wazoo. But yeah, Wish definitely wears the scam-king crown in comparison to the other two... for every dodgy scam on AlExpress or BangGood, there were at least four on Wish. AliExpress wears the crown when it comes to properly refunding, though there have been some less-than-decent responses from them as well (mostly from my early days of discovering AliExpress; back then they didn't really seem to like dealing with scammed customers, but it's gotten better since).

Fast forward to 2021 and the 1050ti for that price is looking pretty good.

4:58 I recognize that wrapping.... I bought a cheap 9" LCD display on AliExpress for my Raspberry Pi and God! There was bubble wrapping outside the box, and then more bubble wrapping inside the box, tho I gotta recognize the LCD came in very good shape, no scratches at all.

Conclusion: Asus made a 1050 Ti that looks and feels so cheap, you'd think it's a fake one.

is it possible asus used the leftover shrouds from the 950 but didnt need the heatpipes cos 1050 dont need extra power connected meaning less heat and didnt need pipes?

Aliexpress is a good alternative to buy PC components. Only thing you can't buy is a decent power supply. You just have to choose the sellers with a lot of reviews and sold items. UKpostsrs intentionally pick items with 1 star review or 2 sold items.

I never had any issues buying stuff on aliexpress. I just bought a 1 TB Nvme M.2 drive from aliexpress around 125$ - 130$ the brand name is Asgard. The performance is similar to a Samsung Evo Nvme.

i can totally understand the scepticism, I always buy from retailers like this with the same mindset, that I'm being scammed and am pleasantly surprised when I get a good deal and arent. Ali express seems like it's generally good with a small chance to be scammed, whilst wish is a high chance of scamming with the hope that you wont.

Hiw about getting some info on how these two perform? Isn't that more pressing than how they are packaged? And the AliExpress one, does a Nvidia 1050 Ti exist that doesn't need more than 75W?? Isn't that the deciding factor in whether or not it's real?

Aliexpress got a $70 1050 ti these days, after this video I'm kinda considering seeing if it is worth it. They claim it is a "professional" model which I think means aimed more at production than gaming, but meh I got the extra to try it.

i dont know. i used to order a bunch of USB controllers, like a n64, nes, snes and genesis clone controllers for like $2 each. id order like 10 of them at a time. half of them wouldnt work, but the other half would and it worked out in my favor, ultimately. still using them to play some of the emus i have. they do a good job without having to use my real controllers or consoles.

Wish, bangood etc all their stock comes from Alibaba who's customer branch is aliexpress. So shopping at the source is usually cheaper.
