They do because they need his skills to be able to develop new technologies to use as weapons against many of the meta corrupt hero’s. If they tell him the truth he will be upset and would refuse to work with them because of how much he is fond of these hero’s. Lying to him basically trick him into thinking he is contributing in helping the justice league while is actually the other way around. It similar to telling a little kid that broccoli taste like candy

You just watched this video you've seen how they treat Flash after he died. And at least he gets treatment, they basically ignore green lantern. Lois gives them all a speech when they die like I said batman and wonder woman get the best ones even though she is Superman's wife. He gets the fourth worst one even the one she gave the flash was better. As for green lantern she basically says "green lantern? Which one was that again? Oh well did you guys know lex also wore green and is dead. This is a sad day for metropolis now that it's biggest tax payer is 6 feet under" obviously she didn't say this verbatim but I'm paraphrasing and it was pretty close
