I love the detail of Theodore’s mistake repeating. Before he became CatNap, he was electrocuted by the Grab Pack and saved by The Prototype, but at the finale, CatNap is electrocuted by the player this time and ‘saved’ by The Prototype once more, causing his death. It’s such a small yet important detail that I love.

Know something interesting? Some of the Critters seemed to be begging and eager to help others and themselves escape, like Dogday and Kicken Chicken. While ones like CraftyCorn and PickyPiggy just went absolutely insane...

Honestly, it feels so good knowing Poppy Playtime will fully make it's way into the proper horror genre and no longer will be seen as simply the thing that's plastered all over YT Kids.

Dogday was such a good character i mean he cared for the player without even knowing him or meeting him and in his last moments he told us to leave so that he wouldn't hurt us. He could've prayed or remember his last memories but he just cared about the player and didn't want to hurt him. I wish we could've saved him Edit: I completely forgot about this comment

Miss Delight’s design really blew me away to how terrifying Poppy Playtime could be sometimes. I can see why Mob wanted to save her appearance as a surprise because she is definitely something from a toy might see in a nightmare.

23:29 Right before catnap bursts into flames, we can see that he expels some of the red gas. After some seconds Catnap ignites and the red gas is no longer there suggesting that if exposed to high voltages of electricity, the gas is flammable. Correct me if I am wrong.

To be honest, CatNap's dialogue is like 'Agonal Breathing' like a human not being able to get enough oxygen it needs, which means theo (who CatNap used to be) was close to dying before, and for DogDay's dialogue, he was trying to get the player to leave before it was too late for them, and the screaming means that CatNap (or someone else) got to him before he could escape.

I think the screaming you hear in some of the smiling critters cutout dialogue is when catnap killed them I mean when dogday screams you hear a thud like his legs dropping off on to the ground and we even see him legless when we first meet him physically

I just realized the reason Miss Delight doesn't move when you look at her is explained in the note where barb tells her to play dead and be still for the other teachers to get close enough for her to make her move. smart bit of lore to explain the game mechanic

My theory is that that not all critters fell to the prototype's control. The recordings show their last moments, Chicken tried to escape, Bubba was brutally murdered, the rabbit also tried to escape, and we get some forshapwing of Dog in his final moments which we witnessed. The others such as Crafty and Piggy did fall to the control and killed the other critters as well as the employees. They may have even turned on each other which is why Dogday was left. As for Catnaps dead, i think it was a mercy kill. Catnap was already in pretty bad shape, he basically became a martyr for his "god". Knowing his time had come and used his body as one last act of devotion. I honestly dont think Cat would have fought it and Proto knew this. Cat was scared he would be punished but realised the Proto was giving him a painless death, not punishment.

7:47 I think there's actually a third, less obvious way to enterperate Kissy staring at that photo. It could be a girl who was a very close friend of hers before she was turned into the Kissy we now know (notice the 2 beds in the room, the other lacking any drawings at all).

Love the designs for the toys, they have to look cute enough to understand how kids can love them but creepy enough to strike fear into us when they chase us down

Bubba: An elephant always remembers. The kid remembers being, well...a kid! And probably the procedure. Kicken: Either as a kid or a toy, he wanted to explore outside of the playcare since he had lived there since he was a baby. Brought a friend along, and both got killed/injured by escaped toys. Crafty: ...went a bit mental with their arts and crafts. Clearly decided to draw with blood. Seems very controlling and disstrusting, anxiety dialed up ti 11. Hoppy: Seems to have simply gone obsessive and manic. Maybe "jumping to the moon" was them trying to jump up to an artificiall moon in the playcare, or the door for the cablecar? I imagine she finally broke herself from putting too much preassure on her body. Bobby: Afraid of being abandoned. Seems very alone. Maybe shut down mentally? Piggy: Went the same way as Miss Delight. Probably killed a bunch of the smiling critters after food began to run out before maybe being taken out by Catnap? Dogday: Sacraficed himself but it was all in vain. He wanted someone to flee, but they couldn't. Catnap: The "deathrattles" of a child on a ventilator after being electricuted during an escape attempt.

It seems Bubba Bubbaphant, KickinChicken and Dogday were aware that they were once human since their cutouts were the only ones that screamed at the end, whereas Hoppy Hopscotch, Bobby Bearhug and Craftycorn all got brainwashed into believing that they were infact the real Smiling Critters and took on their harmless looking yet twisted personalities. And CatNap seems to be the only one of the Critters who simply knows how he was created and that he now owes his life to The Prototype and tortures any one of the other Smiling Critters who stepped out of line!

Also fun fact with the miss delight sequence in the early access version (like what Mike had) she moves when the lights are off whilst in the regular version of the game she only moves when you aren’t looking at her like a weeping angel from doctor who

Honestly, I love the smiling critters. They really do expand greatly on the whole ‘they’re cute toys that are also insane human children’ thing, and it’s really great. They’re also so freaking cute (when they aren’t hungry, anyway) and considering some of them just want to escape, some of them might actually try to help in the future, like how Dogday provided us with more backstory on the prototype and Theo.

17:39 one of the main problem with the living toys project is that even if you take away your stomach, your brain is coded to make you feel hungry so you can survive and get the nutrients you need. So most of the living toys ate people to give themselves the illusion of being fed, while probably not being in danger of dying to hunger. The pig probably succumbed to their hunger and ate some of the other smiling friends, which is why most of them scream, besides dog day who was probably torn apart alive.

About CatNap, first thing I saw the Prototype's hand expand like that, hesitate at first and then giving him his hand, I thought CatNap would gently put his on top of the Prototype's because of the hesitation. Which had me thinking that the Prototype MUST fulfill his goal into becoming stronger, but was hesitatnt to CatNap, unlike everyone else, most likely due to CatNap's devotion to him...and I thought that the Prototype is going to spare CatNap for the same reason but it seems his mission bears no exceptions.. just a first thought I had first time I saw the scene :)

I think the cardboard cut out of the Smiling Critters are what happened to them during the HOJ . Hoppy Hopscotch trying to help children or employees out of the facility, Kickin Chicken doing the same but being nervous due to not knowing about the facility etc. Then the rest maybe went mad idk I’d have to listen to them again

I think that the Dogday cut out dialogue is a direct representation of what the bigger bodies version of him tells us after he basically dies So then the other cutouts probably tell the story of how the bigger bodies version of them died.

One of the most interesting things about Playtime's horrific experiments, is that they can't actually SELL any of these toys. Think about it, it wouldn't take long for a kid to break a toy and suddenly be soaked in blood. The jig could be up before they're even on the shelves, with packets falling during shipping or any other incident that would damage the product. So why are they doing this? Investing *so* much, they had and entire underground orphanage built! So they either made up an absolutely amazing excuse for their toys to have blood and guts, or something bigger is going on...

Bubba: The torchers Kicken: Never left outside. Crafty: The message Bobby: Not feeling loved. Dogday: Being Loyal. Picky: Cannibalism. Hoppy:N/A For now CatNap: Quiet.

My theory is that Ollie isn't the prototype, he's obviously not a kid. So maybe he's the ACTUAL PHONE. Think about it, we already get a vid about an experiment involving an orphan with unique brain patterns and that a goal with the project was to replace employees with toys. What better way to cover security and communication than using a toy? A toy that looks and sounds like the toy phones we have in real life? Its why he can't connect to certain places, Poppy knows and trusts him, and why we didn't hear about him til we got to the Playcare section. Playtime purposely limited his viewpoint to that section, to watch the employees, the orphans and possibly watch out for the prototype getting near the kids again. Since the companynwas aware about Theo/Catnap's escape attempt with the Prototype.

If the prototype wanted to truly rescue/release the kids, why didn’t he do that 8 years ago? Like after the hour of joy, and all the adults being killed and having their corpses dragged “down below”, why not send the kids out at that point? Like it would have been pretty simple for the prototype, mimicking a human voice, to call emergency services and have outside help come and rescue the children, instead of trapping them somewhere within the factory for 8 years. That just doesn’t make sense to me, it’s prolonging the torture for the kids to be entrapped, even more so than they were before the HoJ. And if the role of the protagonist is truly to rescue the kids, why is the prototype placing obstacles in his way? I mean Huggy just seemed completely deranged, but mommy and catnap both had retained their human capacity for intelligence and forethought and critical thinking. Why wouldn’t they bring the kids right to our protagonist and allow them to be rescued, at the behest of the prototype? Let’s also not forget that these kids have suffered terribly during the most formative years of their life, years that are critical to development and growth. It’s quite possible that the survivors have grown up to be as twisted and barbaric as the former adults that entrapped and tortured them. Death, despair, fear, anger, and pain is all these kids knew for most of their life. Not to mention, in order to survive, I think it’s possible they would resort to eating the now-murdered adults. I think this “down below” that Poppy mentioned is where the kids, and possibly the prototype, reside. Evidently the factory was built on top of an extensive network of caves. What if the survivors, in cahoots with the prototype and maybe Poppy, are luring our protagonist to a fate worse than death? Maybe for some sort of experiment, to perhaps give the prototype (Elliot Ludwig) or another toy-human, a true human body to live in again?

Ollie is the Prototype confirmed. I forgot you even got into the factory by Huggy providing a key out of nowhere, which is the same thing Ollie does for you throughout Chapter 3. Poppy doesnt give you keys, she just opens locations for you, same with Mommy Longlegs and Kissy in chapter 2. Ollie has been the only one providing actual keys to the player, and Huggy is only following the Prototype in preventing the player from freeing Poppy. These things can't be coincidences.

Miss delight's laugh in the tape at 11:15 sounds a **lot** like the smiling critter's laugh when they got hit with the red gas.. My theory is Catnap used his smoke on her to get her under the Prototype's control

Bubba Bubbaphant: Knew something he wasn't supposed to, and was killed as a result. KickinChicken: Nearly escaped Playcare but got killed after he was caught. Catnap: Choked to death on a Popeye's biscuit Picky Piggy: Either cannibalized some of the other orphans, or was eaten alive herself. Hoppy Hopscotch: Fell to her death, most likely by jumping around on a catwalk, and didn't look at where she was jumping. Dogday: Invoked the wrath of God CraftyCorn: Fatally wounded and promptly bled to death. This is what I imagine happened to each of the smiling critters.

I don't know if anyone's done this yet but here's my take on the cutouts with the smiling critters 16:07 Bubba's could have been two things 1. The player was part of his bigger body process and his screams were that of him changing, or 2. During the hour of Joy Dogday mentioned that they tried fighting the prototype's control, so maybe some of them tried to help any survivors and were killed in the process while trying to protect them, his scream being the last thing possibly the SURVIVOR remembers about Bubba traumatizing them until there own death 16:26 KicknChicken's was him trying to convince a survivor to come out of a hiding spot to find a safer place or a way out, when he stepped out first to show the coast was clear, he was attacked by either catnap or something else 16:49 Catnap's has a lot of possibilities, but to me it seems like he's just laying in wait, stalking his prey and waiting for the strike 17:26 PickyPiggy's i think has a far more interesting twist, i think two things happened. 1. catnap kidnapped her, and for every smiling critter killed, in a twist of sick pleasure, she was forced to eat their bodies to avoid starving and eventually catnap found survivors and fed them to her as well, or PickyPiggy fell under the prototype's influence and began devouring her friends and humans alike until her death 17:50 Hoppy Hopscotch was most likely trying to help a survivor through the factory, however maybe they were badly injured, so when she's yelling at them to not look at their feet, that's her most likely trying to encourage their survival regardless of their injury, her screams were her being dragged away as they tried to escape BobbyBearhug's is her obsession with a survivor she helped, growing very attached to them due to her character's nature, and maybe every time they left to look for supplies, she grew increasingly possessive over time We all know what became of dogday And Craftycorn most likely had her sanity for a moment until the events of all that happened caught up with her, she was staying with a survivor, her creativity and painting giving her a thread of sanity before it finally snapped and she too joined the senseless slaughter That's my two cents on these anyways!

A theory in have seen about the smiling critters is that Bubba Bubbaphant had been killed and experimented on from inhaling the red smoke, since you hear his laughter while screaming, Kichin Chicken tried to escape and was killed by either Catnap or the prototype, since Poppy had said that he would kill you as soon as you get to the door, Picky Piggy would have been left to stave, where she ate the bodies of her dead friends, eventually starving to death when she had nothing else to eat, Hoppy Hopscotch might have fell from a high platform, as to why she said about looking at their feet, DogDay was warning people to leave, saying to run as far as you can, whilenscreeming you can hear some sort of drill or saw, this may be when his legs were sawn off as the scream is the longest out of all of them, at the end of the recording you can hear something drop, which would of been his legs, Craftycorn probably had killed another toy as she says about hiding red, the scream at the end being her victem, with her fate being unknown. This is what I think happened.

I'm having a feeling the human experiment project happened when Pierre showed up. When the founder created the factory, Pierre must've showed up around that time to work under Ludwig so he can be next in line to run the factory when Ludwig is no longer in charge. Due to his greed and hunger for power, Pierre must've done something to Ludwig while trying to paint him as a horrible monster by planting a dead child in his home. And when Pierre became the person in charge, he started his human experiment project and (as you theorized) used Ludwig's remains to create the Prototype to see if the project is a success to continue from now on.

the cutouts show the last moments of the toys, bubba was reminiscing about when he has a kid (possibly), kickin was trying to escape but was tricked by a fake door (possibly), catnap was impaled though the mouth (prototype no diff'ed), picky was uh eating the other critters (probably), hoppy was trying to get away from the little critters by jumping on a ledge (possibly), dogday became a fursuit (we saw this), crafy corn was drawing the picture that we see at the start but went crazy (possibly)

I had a thought ever since hearing the last tape right before the catnap boss, the conversation between the scientist and the prototype. What if, rather than the Prototype's mind being that of a previous human like the Elliott theory, but was their first truly sentient creation with little to no influence from the base material. Hence why the head scientist is as he said, "excited" by the cruel experimentation and the secrets it can reveal, and the Prototype, despite its intelligence, is also learning how its new life and existence works. Being isolated in the labs in the depths, and later on seeing the lives of the children in the orphanage, all the prototype would know as "facts" is, adults find enjoyment out of vicious torture, like in the experiments it went through, and the children were used for the same purpose as itself, but learned quickly that this was "bad", and then tried to help the children escape the "bad" adults, testing the escape plan with the "befriended" Theo, which ended not only in failure, but also theo suffering the same fate as a new experiment. "...if freeing the children wouldn't work," ponders the prototype, "what about getting rid of the adults? And what better way to do so than to give them the "joy" they so desire, by the hands, claws, and teeth of the products of their own joyous creations..." Thus, the moment when the Prototype's plan commenced, was dubbed The Hour of Joy, for that is what it gave them no? That same "joy" which the experiments provided them in the first place.

I think Miss Delight might be acting like a weeping angel cause one note mentions that standing still to pretend to be dead worked for her in the past when she was hunting her sisters down after she was attacked A part of me thinks CatNap's cutout was him struggling to breath & glitchy bit begging to be helped or killed. I also feel like in some way Kickin Chicken, Dog Day & some how Hoppy Hopscotch were trying to save someone with Kicken trying to go outside with someone to escape but nervous cause it's their first time leaving, Dog Day telling someone they need to leave cause they can't stay here & Hoppy in their own way trying to convince someone to jump to safety or something by making it a game of jumping to the moon.

I dont know if there might be a deeper meaning behind it or if it is an important detail, but I think it's interesting that you can kind of connect the smiling critters to the typical concept of the 7 deadly sins. The obvious ones first: Bobby Bearhug could represent lust, since she seems at least very attached to whoever she is talking to. Picky Piggy obviously reminds of gluttony, because her whole concept is about eating and based on her cardboard it seems like she even ate some of the other critters or what was left of them after what happened to them. Hoppy Hopscotch might relate to wrath based on the fact how mad and furious she became when she couldn't jump as high as she wanted to. Craftycorn seems very greedy to me, since she demanded to get all the colors and when she assumed, that the person she talked to would hide some, she became wild. The others are a bit more uncertain, but still kind of match in my opinion. I would connect Bubba Bubbaphant to pride, because he sounded very confident in his ability to memorize details. Kickin Chicken could match with envy related to his will to go outside even though being afraid of going alone. This curiosity even resulted in his death (at least in his case it sounded the most like it), which could hint that they all died BECAUSE of their personal deadly sin and that they aren't just character traits for each of them. That would leave Dogday with sloth, which could be explained by the fact, that he always warned the player to leave and to "this madness and torment", while it seems like he didn't or maybe didn't even try. He is the last one who died and suffered a lot while being tortured, because he never took initiative to change something himself (just speculation). This connection might have been unintended and as I said doesn't have to mean anything or be of higher relevanc, but I like the idea, since the number of the critters matches up (Catnap aside) and it would be an interesting idea, if they died related to their specific sin. (Or maybe I'm just to big of a fan of the deadly sins concept, which is way I interpret it in everything that gets close to it.)

I have a theory about Bobby and hoppy. So Bobby has the voice line “I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK” and Hoppy tries jumping to the moon to see how much that is but fails so they start bleeding and craftycorn happens to see them bleeding and killed them for blood as red paint. Picky piggy theory: ate all the smiling critters after they died after the hour of joy she eventually starved Bobby:mistakes for another kid and doesn’t want us to leave again and then as her friends died she started to death Kicken chicken:Wanted to see the real world but didn’t know he would be killed if he tried to leave Dogday: dogday was playing fetch with catnap and he just stood there not much Bubba: He remembered us when we worked here Craftycorn:killed everyone for more red paint then starved Catnap:Idk I don’t speak meows and purrs

Here is what I think all of the Smiling Critters cutouts mean when listening to 'em all. Bubba- Remembers what I assume is the experiments done on 'em by the employees. Picky Piggy- Ate all their friends- aka a cannibal. Crafty Corn- Murder- maybe hunts for sport, or for Blood (red paint). Kicken chicken- Never been outside of the factory, most likely went out and was killed/ dragged back in by the employees. Hoppy Hopscotch- Most likely trying to convince the player to jump over or in something to get away from something or someone like the employees. Catnap- Sleeping but I assume was woken up by something or someone. Dog day- Trying to tell the players they shouldn't be there and to run as fast as possible to not become what they were. Bobby BearHug- Fear of being left alone by begging the player to take them with you.

Dogday took the initiative of organising everything and it was going well, but they were betrayed and Bubba was the first one to noticed. Kickinchicken and Hoppy were likely leading seperate groups, trying to find an alternative exit and both died. CraftyCorn tried to focus on something else and went insane due to being unable to cope with stress. Her death may be due to starvation or PickyPiggy being hungry. PickyPiggy probably died due to starvation or trying to manipulate a wrong toy. This only leaves Bobby and DogDay. Bobby was likely meant to stay behind or she ended up being seperate by others. Unilike, PickyPiggy and CraftyCorn she remained composed and likely searched for others or got stuck somewhere. DogDay was harmed during the escape plan, but when it happened is unclear. Likely around time of Chicken and Hoppy death.

KickinChicken - Tried to escape with the other Smiling Critters, toys or even the children, and was killed in his attempt. HoppyHopscotch - Also tried to escape, or went insane and flew into denial when she realized she would never be able to. PickyPiggy - Went insane with hunger and was probably the first to start eating her friends. CraftyCorn - Also went insane from hunger. 'Red' doesn't just mean blood, it can also mean food. She's desperate for food. BobbyBearHug - Probably one of the last surviving critters, and went insane from the isolation. She probably starved herself. DogDay - As the leader, he probably encouraged the other critters to try to escape or fight back, and this was his punishment.

Theory: hoppy jumped and didn’t pay attention, and fell off of a very high platform and died. picky: ate crafty, kickn, and bubba Crafty: eaten Kickn: eaten, or went outside and catnap found him bubba: eaten Dogday: y’all know what happened Bobby: survived, but left alone

Actually, in Chapter 3, when we met up with Poppy and Kissy Missy, Poppy said that we ‘killed’ Huggy, so that confirms that he is dead ☠️. But at least we got to see him again in the nightmare

I heard this terrifying fact that the moaning noises that the catnap cut out makes is the sound of the brain not getting enough oxygen

DogDays seems to warn us about the danger that lurk. 8. CraftyCorn said red is referring to Bloods everywhere.

When dogday said "we tried to fight the prototypes control" that means that the other smiling critters tried to fight against it but catnap got rid of them

Of course Catnap would treat the prototype like a god. I mean, he saved his life while he was human. And it seems that Theodore remembered the prototype after he got turned into Catnap.

I started to think about something: if you remove Catnap from the smiling critters, it leaves 7 of them. Now, 7 is a magical number, as we know, there are 7 deadly sins and 7 virtues. I believe each smiling critter represents one of the 7 virtues. So Catnap doesnt have any, thus, its like "the imposter" among them. Outside of that, a minor detail, but when you go through Dogday's dialogues on the cutout, doesnt it feel like a parallel to Dogday's before chase dialogues? Like: "Go, go, as far as you can!" and "Leave me, please! Just go!" or the screaming part which can be parallel to when the smiling critters climb into Dogday?

I like the detail in Miss Delight's notes where she mentions how if she stood extremely still, her sisters thought she was dead, directly setting up the mechanic of the chase and adding the aspect that she chooses to freeze, she's entirely capable of moving while you're looking at her

17:48 interesting that PigPatch- i mean Picky Piggy's cutout didn't end with screaming/loud static, even CatNap's cutout had static at the end, and he only made noises which not gonna lie kinda sounded like he was snoring, might just be me tho

I have some interpretation on what the Smiling critters could be. 1.) It could be simply a more messed up version of their usual string of dialogue. 2.) it could be referring to Catnap or the player (this one feels very broad) 3.) It a mixed of the smiling critters helping/hurting the orphans during the Hour of Joy, and the cardboard cut out are snippets.

One point that i noticed was missed is that Kissy might still be slightly under the control of prototype and going crazy like what we saw at the end of chapter 3. I think this because we can only hear Missy's footsteps which means maybe she is unsteady and her mind is messing up and she is trying to resist prototype so she is nearly fainting and struggling to find balance. Prototype knows when best to attack Missy's Mentality when no one is there to comfort her

My only confusion with Ollie being the prototype. Is if he wanted the player dead he could’ve done that through Catnap at the beginning of the chapter instead of tossing us further into the facility. On top of that it would also make Poppy a bad guy or just naive that she puts soo much trust into Ollie, her being asleep for so long could be a reason. What’s the end goal to kill the player for their involvement in the experiments? Freeing the kids *that somehow survived being trapped for years*? Freeing the prototype*even though they already killed everyone* so they can get revenge? I have so many questions? All in all I’m still skeptical of Ollie being the prototype. I’m ready for Chapter 4.

Mrs Delight, when she is a psychopath, have an apple on his clothes at 8:46 like Pinky Piggy. I think it's a cannibalism connexion because when you hear vocal about Pinky Piggy, he's really hungry to the point being able to eat someone smilling critters like Mrs Delight with her sisters.

I think Huggy may be still alive because During Chapter Two, You kill mommy, But in chapter three, If you press mommy long leg's cardboard cutout in the Home Sweet Home, you can't hear her speaking. However, if you press Huggy's cardboard cutouts In both chapters 2 and 3, You can still hear him speaking.
