The whole thing with sirius not trusting remus is really interesting. I think at the end of the day he didn’t trust anyone and after remus going off with the pack and being there for ages you would start to doubt him. we also have to remember that it was during a war, everyone was scared and i guess it just shows how horrifying the war was for people. it got to the point where people couldn’t trust the people they love most

those last few months of war when sirius acted all cold and distant to remus was so depressing, it wasn’t depressing in a sense that it was sad it was more like in an empty way like there’s nothing there. i especially felt it when remus told him he missed him and sirius just replied with “i’m right here” like it just hit so hard

I love Grant so much. I know i'm a huge wolfstar but i can't just not love Grant. He deserves everything in this world. May we all get a Grant chapman in our lives. He is so pure for this world. He should be protected at all costs. World needs more people like Grant. I just wanna meet Grant and give him the longest hug and wanna cry in his arms because that's how much I love him. Sorry for my rant. and also I've got two of my friends reading ATYD. They have just started but it's a progress, right?

There is also someone on UKposts who has turned all the young dudes into an Audiobook so it was alot easier for me to get through it with work and the rest of life going on while trying to read it. I would just listen to it while I'm at work with my headphones in. So glad more and more people are reading it. Really hope it reaches all big harry potter fans

Listen I’m so glad I found this because I’ve been crying about this fic and have had no one to cry to. I haven’t finished it, but you know what happens it’s just a matter of how. And I’ve been waiting to finish it until I have a lot of time to just cry.

i don't think that sirius trusted peter more then he trusted remus. more likely he just didn't question him as he didn't question james. in the prisoner of azkaban sirius even says that he offered peter as a secret keeper as he believed that no-one would actually care about him.

yk reading the harry potter books dumbledore was the only one i really mourned like i actually shed a couple tears because he seemed like a clever strong willed father figure but reading atyd really made me realize that he was kinda selfish. also remember when he was young the whole 'for the greater good' thing or whatever. i realized it's still his mindset to the end, like he didnt care who died, everyone was just a chess piece he had to move to show how clever he is and then give up

this!!! literally this!!! i cried so hard when dumby died but after rereading hp as an adult and reading atyd and thinking about him hes literally such a selfish terrible man. and i dont think joanne meant to highlight him this way but if you reread hp he really reads like a villain. he's the worst kind of person. the one that's manipulative and powerful and everyone wants to be their friend and thats why hes so dangerous and is able to orchestrate these wars 'for the greater good'.

Regarding Dumbledore, there are several fanfictions that explore the idea that Dumbledore attempted to “run the play” (by manipulating the players e.g. sending Harry to dursleys) several different ways but each way kept failing to defeat Voldemort, resulting in a nightmarish hellscape of a world . . . until he finally realizes that he has to let things run (or manipulate them to run) in the way they eventually do in cannon (despite how much we may hate him for it) because every other way he tried (to make things better e.g. Sirius raising Harry) only ended up making things worse in the end. An example of a fanfiction that explores this is This World or Any Other series (clean & marked & with a mauaders prequel too) by olivieblake

Remain in light by veeagainst has an amazing chapter about Peter where you really understand his inner thoughts and fears that lead to his actions. The rest of the story is amazing too. Really one of my favourite fanfics next to Atyd:)

Thank you for this video! I've heard about "the Raven Boys" but was never interested in it enough to actually read it but now I'm really interested :) I've just finished reading atyd and I can't read anything else now, I'm still too caught up in the story 😭 and yes! your Dumbledore theory makes sense. I used to like him when I first read HP but honestly that might be because I was young and naive. rereading HP when I got older made me realise so many things I didn't before. Peter never made sense to me, I had hoped that his reasons would be explained in atyd :(

I mentioned this in my comment, but to get a backstory on Peter read the Marauders series by Pengiwen on wattpadd. It is just as good as ATYD, and you also get a backstory on him.

I‘m late but I‘m currently reading all the young dudes (just started their 7th year) and I‘m happy that other people are enjoying it like I do. I relate to you because I‘ve also loved the marauders since the harry potter books and always wanted more content of them. This is perfect and I think mskingbean did a marvelous job. It literally consumes my life right know and I‘m definitly going to print it. I have to have the books! What I‘m not really sure about is if I really want to read the war chapters because I know that I can‘t handle that pain😅 Or if I can watch the 3rd and 5th movie ever again without having a breakdown.

This video is so old. But to mention dumblewhore, he pisses me off too in this book. And i do with serius and remus were healthier. And regulus was so missunderstood by everyone. I just reread the whole series yesterday and today and just am so sad. I know its ment to be accurate, msking got it down to the dripp with everything 70s but the ending being so realistic as well just hurts my heart.

I cannot with how much I love this version. For me, it fleshed out the story as well as Sirius, James, and Remus so much. I especially love the moment James finds out about Sirius and Lupin and when Sirius storms out of an OOTP meeting and into the library at Grimmauld Place. Great read for anyone who likes ATYD

I would like to recommend another book series that i think a few atyd readers would appreciate. Itˋs called „The Heart Rate of a Mouse“ or short „throam“. It doesnˋt have the same ‚boardingschool-friendship-vibes‘ as atyd has and therefore lacks the lightness that comes with it. I still think the topics of throam would be quite intresting for you guys. It is about the music industry in the 70s, especially about the dark side of it (sex, drugs, alcohol, tour life,…), also the main character, the lead singer of a world famous band, comes to terms with his sexuality. The whole story is told from his perspective and he is an extemely complex character whith A LOT of baggage and past trauma which constantly gets in the way of building healthy relationships, he is also an asshole. The series is written as an p!atd ryden fanfic, but itˋs not a problem if you have no idea what i am talking about right now, mearly the characters and a few plot inspirations are loosley based on the real band.
