I've actually spent some times up close with big cats, and when one growled at me I literally ran as fast as I could out of the cage, but then the mentor/tour guide tackled the lion and they playfully wrestled with the big boy for a while. These cats aren't actually that bad. In the wild if they are hungry and you are near their pride, they will end you. But they're social creatures, with different standards and different forms of communication. Just let them show you how they act, and they will be patient with you. Well circuses that use animals in their shows are SCRICTLY watched after the terrorist attacks on the Ringling brothers in 1998. Some animal advocates released 4 lions and 7 tigers, who went on to kill 3 humans and almost all of each other. They injured 5 more and were all shot at the site. This kind of thing could end circuses as a whole, so they are regulated alot. These cats don't hate their life, they're just communicating in their own ways.
