For smaller operations, the accumulator/grappler combo works best out of all of these. The rest are either dropping on the ground requiring you to move a big load later, tying up a machine for storage, or both plus a lot of moving parts. Some of these would be brutal on the soil as well

This is amazing technology. Fascinating to watch. At the same time, it is no wonder farmers are going broke. They are spending lots of $$$ to farm. Expenses out run income. Competition has forces farmers to become BIGGER to have scale. Eventually, only corporations will farm.

Having hands-on experience with the large square bale stacker, I can vouch for its efficiency. It simplifies the loading process, facilitating easy transportation to the bale yard where the offloading into a neat stack mirrors the handling of small bales. I once owned a unit that streamlined the transition from large to small bales in just 20 minutes. This approach proves to be more efficient and less labor-intensive compared to other methods. With only four pieces of hay equipment - tractor, rake, baler, and stack hand - the entire job, including stacking, can be accomplished. This stands in contrast to alternatives that involve multiple procedures and additional equipment for both field pickup and bale yard stacking.

But you always will have to pay for what you did in your lifetime and with nowadays farm sizes, one would need half an army of strong men to get done the work in the short time allowed… Not only it becomes more and more difficult to just find the willing people for, but also their wages would exceed the costs of some machines doing the same job with just one operator and without ruining his health… (Sorry for my bad English !)

The large square bale stack hand I have personally used. They work great to load then drive to the bale yard and offload into a stack, just like with small bales. I owned one of those units that in 20 minutes I could go from big square bales to small bales. The other units are way to manpower heavy. Four pieces of hay equipment, tractor, rake, baler, stack hand. Job done and stacked, once not two or more additional procedures and pieces of equipment to field pick up and stack at the bale yard.

When I was a youngster in high school that worked in the local hay fields with other high schoolers that had stronger backs then smarter minds for "bucking hay" we thought it was HUGE DEAL when the farmer we worked for bought a brand spanking new bale lifter that was truck mounted that picked them up and placed them on the bed of the truck where human horsepower (which was us) then still had to stack them!! That was 1970 or so in rural western Washington near the Nisqually delta area was one location. Which is now mostly urban filled with houses instead of hayfields...

Back in good old Ireland in the 70s 80s it was back breaking time pitching heavy small square bales some balled too fresh weigh about 1 .5 cwt and would be seriously heavy and many men have bad strained backs as a result. In 1970 I used to use a push off silage buckrake with 7 ft tines and extended it on both sides to make it 10ft on a heavy duty high reach Quickie Loader on a MF 168 with a ton weight on the back for ballance. Instead of pitching heavy bales with a fork I did it with the tractor in half the time and no sweat lost. Back in the shed we used a lely elevator which was absolutely brilliant but kneeded help to keep them stacked in the shed. Using two trailers we used drop a full one in the yard and leave 3 Emyptying And myself and brother going back to the field & fill 150 on to a trailer and head back Half mile to the yard drop the trailer and bring back the empty one. We often did 1500/2000 bales in two days. Then I bought my first 580k case digger in 1991 and made a 12ft x8ft frame to sit on the forks and could put 80/90 bales on it and put on a 3ft Bucket full of sand centred on the the back actor for ballance and didn't use any trailers as the digging lifted almost 16ft .5 high and didn't kneed a elevator just 2 men & myself could bring in 1500 in 6/7 hrs no bother.

4:16 I'm pretty sure it doesn't come with three double-acting hydraulic outlets as that wouldn't make any sense. The tractor probably has to have three double acting outlets to control it though. 4:26 You know it's not a baler.. :D It's interesting equipment, but the video would be even better if the facts were at least somewhat correct. This would just confuse people who actually want to know but don't yet. Don't take me too seriously, but accurate facts and explanations go a long way! :D

@Grover91
@Grover91 2 роки тому
This way is much more efficient. If you only have one guy stacking bales, the other two can be doing work elsewhere. Three jobs being done at once rather than one. 👍 Also you take the risk of being sued for work related injuries out of the equation.
@LordGizmo

You probably couldn't find a crew big enough to finish these fields anymore! There's many factors, and fairly vital is speed, ensuring that the fields are finished in time for the growing season. Plus, there tends to be a lot of distractions, like inclement weather, that could cause any number of issues from losing time when the soil is too muddy to work on or making workers on the ground turn sick.

spread fire proof thatch treated grass hey bails on both sides of the fire break wall 20ft both sides along the ground = 20+20+ 40-50ft of logs= 80 or 100ft wide fire aging/drying break. As log as thatch is treated & 1ft thick or so it will keep grass from growing back up thru esp if weed block then thatch put down. The idea is to place log wall thatch break running along road way so real break is 100ft-110 long counting road.
