Those tape-measures, now i don't know if it's the same in USA, but in EU we have 3 classes. Class 1 is for professional use, max allowed divination from true, on 5m (16,4 feet) is 0,6mm (0,023 inch), tho they'll often cost 5-8x as much as the cheap 5€ ones

I was in Home Depot a while back and I decided I would see how accurate some of their cheap squares were. So I grabbed 2 aluminum speed squares and put the flanged sides down and put them against each other, no daylight. I did the same with a few others, same result. I grabbed some different kind of squares and the same result. These were around $8.00. I'm sure Peckers equivalent would be ten times that. I would rather save the $65 and take my wife to dinner.

Your time stamp method is perfect. I like that there’s two ways. The comments or the link in description (preferred for me). I literally just pause the video at a tool I like. Click the link in your description and it’s super easy to find. I recommend you keep this in time-stamp order as it is now. Anything else would make it difficult

This has to be the 'gold standard' of useful woodworking tools. Most of the tools are very affordable, you provide great detail, 'how to use' info, and the tool presentations are swift but not so fast that I have to replay sections over and over. Great job.

You can bring a framing square back into square by tapping the corner with a ballpein hammer.if it's toed inwards, tap the inside corner slowly and check on every hit. You will stretch the metal and move the blade outward. If you're too aggressive, you may have to file the blade flat if you hit it too close to the edge. Worked in a fab shop and my boss was too cheap to buy us new ones. So we had to improvise. Tap the outside of the corner if it's out the opposite way.

You probably don't want to drop your square if you have to use it again. So now you can always remember that your cheap Boss helped you teach all of us viewers who have out of squared Square s get them back into square... Makes me sound like a square. Just sayin Thanks, the tip to fix a needed tool if on the job site I have a ( quick fix )

Brother, I have followed you for years and been a huge fan. Shoot, I even tagged you in one of my builds 2 years ago, it was the entertainment center and you gave me a shout on IG. But I gotta ask…. Can you build more? Everyone is doing tool reviews, I get it. But can you get back to what you used to do? Shoot that’s why most of us OG’s are here in the first place. You prob won’t see this but I feel like this channel has gotten off track and it’s sole purpose is to ride the trending bandwagon for views and views = money. But doesn’t = quality. All love bro. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Your videos are well worth watching and very informative it is an awful pity some of the very convenient tools you show can't be found in my country. I'm on Disability and only a home hobbyist in my 60s. There is another idea for the spring clamps, people of all ages could use them for hand exercises especially elderly. I find them great as I'm fighting arthritis and trying to do various hobbies before arthritis gets hold and these spring clamps are a great accent to helping. Thanks a million

For anyone looking at using the spring clamps, quick tip: they can be a pain to grip 2 smaller pieces without them shifting in or out as the pressure settles. Turn them sideways or more parallel to the workpiece and they're way easier to keep straight.

I LOVED this video! This is what us new woodworkers need! Sage unbiased overviews of great tools so we know what to get, why, and how to use it. I VEHEMENTLY disagree with Spills51 on his comment about “pushing tools”. WE NEED TOOLS! And tools are seldom covered in such depth, with such expertise, and so concisely and quickly: yes, it’s a fire hose, but I don’t want a whole video on just one tool: life is too short. You could make a whole separate channel on just covering tools. And perhaps this an idea we can take away from Spills51’s comment. He obviously has all the tools he needs, so bravo for him. In deference to his comment, perhaps we do need a separate channel on projects and techniques. I don’t disagree with that in principle. SO, if we want to keep just one channel (often needed for critical mass), the maybe have three different video “shows” one for each gender. So there can be the “Tool Review Show”, the “Tool Techniques Show”, and then the “Projects Show”, each with its own focus. This may be the closest to satisfying everyone. But for example with projects, I’m probably not going to watch many projects videos unless it’s for something that I want or am planning to build. But I’ll watch tools and techniques all day long. Other might revers this. Let each to their own.

Tape measures are more for construction where you can be a 16th to an 8th off and it's no big deal. I always used rulers for shop work. If I'm measuring more than a yard stick,I'll use a tape. But if all your measurements are under 30 inches, use a ruler. It's less clunky and more accurate. If you are doing shop work have a few rulers or different lengths.

Non customized FastCap tapes actually use that side for a write on/wipe off clip board. Very handy, and you could also have your custom message around the outside still leaving most of the clipboard available…

Do you have any videos on using the scroll saw? I lost my brother recently and his wife got me to take all his things out of his shed which included a scroll saw but I never saw or used one so I don't know how to use it or anything about it and it is for home use hobbies. I did find blades for cutting metal only only two days ago but I'm dying to see it working and what I can use it for

I have a made in USA Stanley carpenters square. I have had this square for over 20 years. I have cut plywood pieces that when checked with this square were perfectly square on all four corners. If I bought a $300 square would it do anything to make these pieces more square than what they actually are?

Superb video! Something for everyone and extremely well organized. Just wanted to mention one additional thing and make one recommendation about the Kreg tracksaw. If you're going to do a full review of the Kreg saw, I would strongly suggest that you include in your review the companion Adaptive Cutting System (ACS). The Kreg track saw when coupled with the ACS becomes an order of magnitude more useful. As I'm guessing you know, the companion Adaptive Cutting System is a multifunction (MFT-style) table which frankly blows the Festool MFT away at a similar price point. The MFT-style dog holes, rail hinges, built in measuring rules, and miter gauge allow you to make extremely accurate and repetitive cross cuts and rip cuts of almost any dimension and at almost any angle. It's also rollable and folds to provide a very small footprint. It can do virtually anything that a table saw can do and is much safer. In fact, I don't even own a table saw as the Kreg ACS and track saw are a great alternative. Sorry for the sales pitch but I love the Kreg system.

Great product recommendations. I've been wanting the massca pockethole jig for a while, but now I'm really interested in that dowelling jig. If you had to pick one, which would you go with? Can the dowel jig do pretty much everything the pocket hole jig can, with added strength?

DANG!!!! I THREW IT AWAY!!!! I found one of those "Carpenter's Square Fence" in my Dad's tools after he passed away. I thought it was some sort of guard that screwed on to a blade to cover the edge. I couldn't find any saw or knife that it looked like it fitted, so I threw it in the metal scrap bin. The amount of times I've used my big Square and had it slip while I'm marking out a job........ is countless!!!! Boy, am I feeling like a real dummy right now. 🤥
