We've been working on teaching #ameca a wider range of facial expressions Added 12 new actuators - now the challenge is how to control all the expressive capabilities

Compared to robot Sophia, my money would definitely be on Ameca. She is way ahead of Sophia and developing many times as fast. Compared to 3 years ago, Sophia has only made minor progress. Ameca's expressions are also far more realistic. Combine Ameca with Boston Robotics mobility skills and Ameca will be walking, moving and talking like a human in no time (my guess is by 2024)

This makes me think of Westworld last season, people being replaced by doppelganger robots, taking their 'place'. Not like dystopic-approach but still very malefic if compared to fake news system and how people are capable of exploiting something.

As long as robots are made with mechanical actuators and motors they will never achieve perfection as regards mimicking human movement. Ameca's personality and facial expressions make her adorable. At what point do we say she has become conscious?
@Nate_BohРік тому
I was wondering about this more on a serious note and would estimate conscious mind when GPT-5 or 6 will come and as if it will be impemented in her. Im curious if they are planning on expanding her mind like that!
@samsoowРік тому
@@Nate_Boh It will never be conscious, even at GPT-10 ASI. Because consciousness is something that is beyond this world, and it's extremely complex you can't expect something to be conscious just because he appears conscious to you. Intelligence has nothing to do with consciousness, an hamster is conscious yet he's far far less intelligent than GPT-4.
@Nate_BohРік тому
@@samsoow I see your point. It's very interesting point of view to see consciousness as you said beyond this world; I partially agree with you; though I would not call hamster conscious there are more intelligent animals that I would. Nice animatronics. Soon to have an Atlas Boston Dynamics body, a gpt-3 language capability, deep fake voice, object recognition, ability to paint, put things in order...? Give it a rudimentary lymbic system that can learn (desires, fears, goals, reward anticipation etc.) and a permanent memory, selective forgetfulness, dreams..and there you will have a humanoid robot that can connect emotionally with humans.

🇧🇷🇧🇷 At her first appearances, without any doubt, a woman was talking for Ameca. She didn't have AI AT ALL. In one of her first videos, woman asks her: " can you speak Spanish?" The woman who is talking for her says: " I can but, I cannot speak it today. Why? Because the woman who talking for her, doesn't speak spanish fluently for that moment. AI can speak, basically, ALL major languages in the world in a matter of second ( english,japanese,mandarin, brazilian language ( portuguese from Portugal is, literally, becaming another language . I swear for my life: most brazilians already don't understand portuguese spoken in Portugal. They link one word's pronunciation with another; they don't pronounced all vowels and consonants 'words sounds; they use completely differents words meaning for many things; they not only speak quite fast jumping word's pronunciation, as well they don't pronounce many final worda' sounds. Ameca seems to have few circuits and mechanism to able her to do so much automatically. It seems she is more an animatronic than a autonomous robot. Look at her: we can see hers few body mechanisms and , for having an AI on it's own, hers mechanisms seems to be quite too simple. Plus, why does always have people close to her in order for her to " work properly "?
