I used to work in a family run Mexican restaurant and I can tell you from experience... if you work with chilies wear eye protection as well as gloves. Chilies are worse than the flames of hell if you get any of it, seeds included, in your eyes. And God help you if you handle chilies without gloves then have to go to the bathroom. I'm an East coast girl and I was struggling to find a good cheesesteak for years. I found this place 6 or 7 years ago and they are legit. Black Angus ribeye, Amorso rolls from Philly yum. They offer traditional toppings and some other chicago style toppings. Only two draw backs are that the owner in a Philly guy and somewhat of a purists so they won't put any condiments on the bread 😔 and because he has some of the items shipped from Philly, and the cheesesteaks are stuffed, a large can run you $20. I still order from them several times a month. They are phenomenal.

So, I say to myself, what the hell am I doing, there's only two people in the house right now!!! As a Philadelphia guy through and through I gotta admit those pizza steaks looked phenomenal. An excellent pizza steak is one you put a bib on for and use a knife and fork I was taught, and that hits all the marks! Plus I love that they don’t skimp on the cheeses. Only long time mom and pop spots still do four five even six pieces of cheese for a twelve inch steak like this guy. Everybody else is worried about saving a nickel on a slice smh
@crespoopsercРік тому
As a Chicago guy, if you need a bib then you’re a child who has a hole in his chin.
@chrisdooley1184Рік тому
@@crespoopserc well Douglas, I guess I got a hole in my chin lol. You do those beauties proper in Chicago. That and that place I’ve eaten a few times when I’ve been there over the years - excellent hotdogs and they put an entire piece of chocolate cake in your shake too which is to die for 😂. Maybe the name is Portillo’s but great food too. Oh don’t forget the cheeseburger cheeseburger cheeseburger no coke only Pepsi spot lol
@NilruinРік тому
I don't think most shops do that much cheese for financial reasons or trying to "save a nickel", I think most shops just don't add that much by default because it's gross. It completely defeats the purpose of the sandwich if you just flood the damn thing with cheese. Especially if that bread isn't toasted to crispy, the cheese will just make the bread soggy if you overload the roll with it. I have a local cheesesteak shop that does four slices by default and it's just the right amount for a 12-inch roll. Anything more is too much, but they will add extra cheese if requested (I think it costs 99 cents extra). Never had a "pizza steak", but it definitely looks pretty messy for a sandwich. If I wanted to eat my lunch with a fork and a knife, I wouldn't go to a cheesesteak restaurant. Not saying it isn't delicious, but it's definitely not a sandwich.
@HazyEmpathyРік тому
Worked for a pizza place that had a .2oz margin of error for cheese weight. The owner claimed thousands of dollars a month were being lost to us overtopping but it is 100% just him skimping.
