From about when I was born in 1938 until (say)1950, I lived in a basement flat in a road parallel to Abbey Road. In fact our garden backed on to the gigantic recording studios ,so from the time I was a toddler and able to play in the garden I would hear what went on ,when the windows were open . During the War years ,the studio was used more for rehearsal purposes ,I don't think there was recording done then, but I would regularly hear orchestral rehearsals ,with a few bars of a classical piece begun ,a pause as a quiet voice gave instruction ( the conductor, I imagine), the music resuming and so on ,for several hours each time . It only occurred to me later in life as an adult, that I had probably been privileged to hear the best International Orchestras, Soloists and Conductors of classical music at the time . I remember aged about 9 enjoying listening to classical music concerts on the radio with my Father and easily recognising the works I had heard in rehearsal. My older sister was never interested in the music but does recall hearing the technicians playing table tennis and sometimes, to her pleasure, finding their ping-pong balls in the garden ,having come out through the studio windows !

On two covers of early-Sixties' Beatles Albums, you can see them looking over the rails of a staircase. It was one of their business offices. The building was at the top of Manchester Square, W.1. Funny when the cops were getting calls about a flying pig considering that the word pig is a common slang term for a cop in Britain, which goes back to the 1960's. I've seen Pink Floyd live about 20 times, the best was the Pulse Tour at Earls Court, London in 94 where I was in the front row. Most footage from that show is on You Tube. I've picked up master tapes from Trident Studios to take to EMI's record pressing plant back in the early 70s.

A couple of music things in London that some people may not be aware of, the Marquee club was a major venue on Charing Cross Road and the building it was located in is still there and is still a pub. The guy that wrote Let It Go from Frozen (me) lived in Shepherd's Bush and was next door neighbour to Mr Nice (Howard Marks). He used to go and watch bands play on Sunday at the local Walkabout Inn.

I often drive down Abbey Road and pass the studios because it's a secondary radial road between two major radial roads heading out of London to the Northwest suburbs where I live. Despite passing so often, I still get a buzz out of seeing it. George Handel also played organ in my local church St Lawrence's, Little Stanmore for the self styled Duke of Chandos. Must have been quite a journey (about 10 miles) from Central London back then.

You can visit the Handel Hendrix Museum and it is worth going to . It is not far from Carnaby Street, which was the trendy heart of groovy 60s London. Most of these locations are very close but you would be advised to get the bus up to Abbey Road. It's easy to find but it is a long walk from the centre of town.

The Maida Vale Studios in Maida Vale,is still going strong,albeit the BBC has sold it on to composer Hans Zimmer and his associates. The Olympic Studio in Barnes,a stones throw from Marc Bolan's demise,was used by many famous musicians,until recently.Now an artsy fartsy cinema and high end cafe.

There's a great TV show called Urban Myths. It pulls from fact, rumour, & imagination to show a version of what may have happened between 2 people (usually famous ones). One episode has Handel & Hendrix interacting. Check it out, JJ.

I've definitely seen public pianos in the US - definitely Boston, maybe elsewhere.

Far less glamorous but the Cart & Horses in Stratford (East London) is where Iron Maiden played their first gig (and a ton of their early gigs thereafter). It is now something of a shrine to the band with a ton of memorabilia, regular tribute acts (alongside other live music) and sells Maiden's own range of beers on keg (Trooper being the most widely drank).

So my son's first names are Joe Lennon James Marshall. So James Marshall for both jimi hendrix real name and the amps, lennon, obvs and joe from the old TV show joe 90 and his great uncle joe. It's a lot of names, but at least none of them were apple or had numbers in them 😂
