I've been listening to her perform at the local market night for years. I made all my friends stop, listen, and drop in cash whenever they visited. I always believed in her and always hoped she would make it. She would sing her HEART OUT to 12-50 people week after week.

So unless those auditions from a few years ago were taped after this and somehow went in a time machine to upload them then you are correct. If no time machine was in play here then you are wrong.

I haven't heard that song before either until Abi's performance, BUT it just won Billie Eilish two MAJOR awards including an Oscar. Abi did a GREAT job picking a BEAUTIFUL tune to audition, and making it her own elevating her tone in the song and melting the judges and America with her performance 😉

No.What you are hearing is the off key violin noise that is her singing voice.It isn't her heart breaking.How many girls sing exactly like her and they have that same jeans and crazy eyes.They all have that same exact outfit and they always play the piano.To look like they are multitalented.

Me, too! I've listened to this audition dozens of times and even though I love Billie Eilish's version, I love Abi's more! (Billy's is perfect! But so is Abi's! It's crazy!) Abi just LOVES to sing. In that respect, she's just like her mother. Her mom gave up her own singing career to have seven wonderful children. I think it was worth it!

Been hearing this song sang by Billie Ellish so often on the radio, shopping malls, groceries stores, cafes but somehow Abi sang it, and it’s hit me, the words is so clear and the emotion is so mature, and I have tears! Well done Abi, see you in the Top 5!

No it’s definitely Billie’s she made it her own, she experimented different ways of how she should singing this song for the film. This style of Abi being one of them.

I said it rivals the original meaning it gives Billie's a good run for her $$ although I def think Billies (the original) is a clear winner! Not to mention she & Finneas wrote every lyric & note! Billie might not always belt it out & carry on (which is beautiful) but her unique style is not only sheer PERFECTION, but also can't be duplicated or even matched. Billie can sing the same song several different ways, a new way every performance & every one as good as the last. She has a helluva gift I would never begin to pretend any1 could do it better.. only saying Abi Carter def did it justice to say the least! (Sorry 4 the paragraph lol) 😅

I think you could be onto something with Fields of Gold. With all the song choices out there probably a slim chance she sings it on idol though 😢 I think there are a chunk of songs she's got in her arsenal that she can pull off, that will sound AMAZING, maybe close to this classic moment on Idol.

Thank you. Her mom and I started watching it from AI's debut on June 11th, 2002. Abi was still in the womb. But at Mom's next sonogram visit, our doctor said "She's singing!" I kid you not! And she has never stopped. She was meant to sing. She has been doing it since before she was born.

Abi's mom and I watched it when it debuted on June 11, 2002...and for many years after. Abi was born about a month later. When her mom got her last sonogram, the doctor told her he had NEVER heard what he was hearing: our daughter was SINGING in the womb. Abi has literally been singing since BEFORE she was born! True story.
