Shawn(sp?) I LOVE the way the stars above that Eagle Popped out contrasting the black tarnish/mud. Jerry, that oblong button, could that be like a neck button to the top of a lady’s blouse? I can somehow see that with the tall neckline dressing of the day. Great stuff guys!
@detectingpa896813 днів тому
We always picture how these people would have been dressed when these items were lost. Interesting to think about.

I really enjoy these videos. Thanks😁. That first find on the berm at the first site looks like a winder for a music box/ jewelry box. 🤷♀️
@detectingpa896814 днів тому
Could be! We arnt the best at ID some of the things we find. Our views usually figure them out though.
@f.k.burnham849114 днів тому
-Take a gold pan with you. If you find a piece of jewelry missing the stones, pan the dirt around the find hole. Odds are good you will find the stones that have fallen out.
@detectingpa896814 днів тому
That’s a good idea! Thanks

Out here in AZ we have a cabin built by a Kuhn. Don't know if y'all spell it the same. He was a gold miner and helped to establish Quartzsite. I've been to his old cabin and in his old mine. Pretty cool finds. Thanks for sharing.😊
@detectingpa896813 днів тому
That sounds like it would be an amazing place to detect as well.
@PARelicHunters14 днів тому
Congrats Shawn on the Barber quarter and Jerry on the Indians and V nickles. Theres no way you're going to get Shawn to walk across that wooden bridge😂.
@detectingpa896814 днів тому
Thanks! I almost froze in the middle. We did go back and we walked under it and crossed the creek. Shawn wasn’t having it.
@jamesprentice550314 днів тому

A REALLY interesting site! I have no issue with digging iron targets, anything utilitarian was usually made of iron.
@detectingpa896814 днів тому
Yes, we just recently after hitting the old trade site started to dig the big iron signals more often. We know you enjoy some great old sites. I wanted to recommend another channel to ya. He’s digging some Amazing trade relics! Check him out! ukposts.info/have/v-deo/eqigf4dum6Jpq4k.htmlsi=8KLg4XO3jaa4hIe9

@detectingpa896814 днів тому
Thanks Daniel, I don’t realize I do it until I watch the video back. Shawn is great at it lol. He’s always reminding me haha

That piece with the star on it is not a saw medallion. It is an unused leather rivet. I find lots of these, used. That's a nice find. If you find one of those annoying little brass/copper "washers", then touch have the other side of the rivet. That would make a nice display item.
@detectingpa896814 днів тому
Thanks! Great idea.
@kimderrick779614 днів тому
Love watching you guys turn over historical items from the ground but that music is so annoying. Finally turned it off only to turn it back on. Please, your commentary and swinging is all that is needed.
@detectingpa896814 днів тому
As much as we like that you enjoy our videos, we enjoy the music and like having it in our videos. We do try to change the volume decrease the amount of it here and there but I doubt we will be deleting the music from the videos. Thanks as always for the constructive criticism.
@kimderrick779614 днів тому
@@detectingpa8968 The volume is much lower than most videos that use music.
@huntinquincy423810 днів тому
😂I honestly didn’t even notice the music until I read the comment. The volume is perfect, wouldn’t change a thing 👍🏼

@tomjohnson588814 днів тому
At 22:45 what was the black square up on the hill?
@detectingpa896814 днів тому
Good eye, there was a railroad track that was above the homesite put in in the early 1900s. That was a stone drainage tunnel they put under the tracks because there was a spring there.
@FullThrust103114 днів тому
How do you guys find places to detect at? Like private property or public.
@detectingpa896814 днів тому
It’s mostly private since we detect the forest. Landowners don’t seem to mind when you ask them as long as it’s not hunting season.
@albertamikulsky733814 днів тому
I really enjoy your history telling along with the metal detecting. The Kuhn name is in my family tree. The name somehow changed to Coon along certain lines. Good hunting guys!

If you find a 1877 Indian Head Penny. They worth $1000. I suggest a soft toothbrush and a little bit of water and clean the Indian Head Pennies that way you will not ruin them with your fingertips. I was the Allegheny County Penn Hills historian from 1985 to 2023. This area has black coal dirt and your rubbing objects can do more damage than good.
@detectingpa896810 днів тому
Yes, we should be gentler rubbing coins. Often time they come out of the ground toasted. To do it right we would need to take it him and gently clean all the artifacts but we want to make sure we Is the dates while in the field for the viewers.
@laurelreinhardt507613 днів тому
At 22:36 does it look like a cave in the background?
@detectingpa89689 днів тому
Good eye, it’s a stone strain age tunnel that was put in under the railroad tracks above the site.
