I ran out of words how to describe how awesome this show is. I just want to congratulate Tony Gilroy and the writing of Beau Willimon that deserves an Emmy for it!

That speech had me floored, I can't believe there's Star Wars fans that probably won't ever see this episode and it's a damn shame.

House of the Dragon and Rings of Power came with all the attention and hype, but Andor has blown them out of the water.

Luthen's speech is amazing because it highlights the cost of performing the tasks of forming the Rebellion, of fighting the Empire. You see the terrible and brutal decisions he is forced to make, that he must embrace the tactics of his enemies in order to defeat them. But, critically, Luthen feels that pain, and he regrets, every day, the deicisions he is forced to make; he knows the cost spiritually of his work. The Empire he is fighting does not feel that regret or spiritual pain; that is why they are evil and must be opposed, whatever the cost.

I was in awe of this dialogue. Greatest ever in the Star Wars universe if not all SyFy. PLEASE DISNEY LET THIS SHOW SET THE STANDARD OF ALL STAR WARS SHOWS!!!

''I have made my mind a sunless place'' - that's just pure poetry. I loved the dichotomy between the two monologues - one is a speech about doing everything possible to escape their oppression and starting a new life, hope and freedom are on the line - the other, a speech about doing anything and everything possible to create freedom for others; providing them hope BUT leaving themselves in the deepest depths of darkness and a prison of solitude of their own making...

I know it may sound silly but there is so much resonating power in that speech for me as a black person in America, who values the history and sacrifice by black leaders of generations past.

I love seeing the passion ignited in the fandom like this. I love that we get Filoni's stories, and I am so happy we are getting Gilroys' stories. What a time to be a Star Wars fan. Not a Vespa, screaming inquistor, or space horsie in sight. Luthan's monolog was Shakespearian worthy to be up there with Shylock's monolog ('If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?"'), and I'd say even Hamlet's ("Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep") Man, I love this show.

Andor has been top tier this year

Andor makes Kenobi look like a kids TV show.

"He's given everything for his dream"...which he knows he will never live to see! *my heart* this episode had it all man.

You know Andor and Rouge One makes me really appreciate all the rebels that are not the MC of the Star Wars universe. All the sacrifices they made created the one shot Luke got to destroy the Death Star in a New Hope for the rebellion to become a serious threat to the Empire and not just an annoyance.

Andor needs an emmy. This is some of the best Star Wars in existence. They need to get Tony Gilroy on full time at Lucas Films

Luthen shows what it was really like before Luke. Luke changed the whole rebellion by showing them they can win. Luthen didn't have the luxury of being "good". He has to use all of the evil that the Empire also uses to topple it. It's so eye opening. And it's an awesome show because of that.

I simply re-reviuewed this speech immediately for 4 times..it was sooooo impressive. The writer did also the House of Cards........not some goofy Disney nutter.

We got a sense of that loss, and those unsung heroes that give their lives for rebellion, with the line "many Bothans died to give us this information" in Jedi. Andor is what Rogue One should have been.

'I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy... to defeat them' wasn't meant literally, it is a metaphor to express that he simply has had to behave like them to beat them at their own game. He knows just how unethical he has had to act to achieve goals, like allowing Kreegyr to go to his death.

Skarsgard and Serkis were the GOATs this episode

Definitely brilliant storytelling. Plus it makes even crazier that the future of the rebellion came down to Biggs's friend who showed up suddenly with a princess, a smuggler, a Wookie and some droids and then trusted space magic over technology to blow up a planet-killing super weapon. You watch the medal ceremony now and feel like Chewie's not the only one who's contribution got overlooked.

Goddamn you guys perfectly put into words why I loved that speech so much. I want to write a dozen thesises about that scene. That speech will be practiced in acting class monologues for decades to come.

The speech did something in me! I’m so glad there are people like these guys who can put into words how I feel about it. Dang it was amazing.

It’s interesting how mon mothma is the least committed of the main rebels at this point of the story (notwithstanding that she may give into the indecent proposal made to her in the last episode after all!). I reckon the second series will focus on her evolution more when she’s ready to commit everything without hesitation like Cassian and Luthan are at the moment. Essentially she becomes the light that the galaxy flocks too when she openly challenges the Emperor (I think in Rebels she does that?) but her character is a long way away from being that person at this stage. What an incredible show. It’s almost like a stage play.

Talking about crossing the line between good and evil, Luthen's speech showed the darkness necessary to defeat the Empire whereas Kino's speech showed the hope necessary to defeat the Empire.

I was late to the party as far as this show is concerned. I watched and finished it about a month ago. IMO the greatest piece of starwars content I’ve ever consumed.

Great speech but for me the dialogue between cassian and kino was epic.

The Luthen Rael monologue at the end of episode 10 is up there with "tear drops in the rain" by Rutger Hauer; Roy in 'Blade Runner'.

That speech took my breath away. It was stunning. Beautiful and sinister. There is a moral ambiguity which exists in all struggles. So close to perfection. I love this show so much.

Glad there are people who felt the same way. I loved Andor already but that scene solidified my appreciation forever towards the show. It perfectly describes the sacrifice that Luthen has had to do in such an impactful way. This show is a revolution for StarWars media I hope they continue with this direction.

This is evolution of art… no movie could do this in my opinion, after watching Arcane i feel like the bar was raised. Almost like after the first Avatar… the dialogue and just the pure mood of this series is so angsty, so engulfing. The performances so stellar its hard to fathom that this is tv… the quality of the lore is almost booklike in its nuance. Subtle details, the feel of Mon Mothma this entire show is of someone under a microscope, someone who must subdue comfort, the performance amazing. And Kino, just finding his voice, as Luthen said, knowing what his choices will do to affect others yet knwig he wont be able to enjoy the freedom he has encouraged others to chase. Andor, pushing Kino, seeing in him the leader of men he could never be… knowing his is an existence of shadow, of precise incision, in and out and Kino can and must do better “one way out”… and the Luthen Rael, the true Dark Knight, a character who has become my favorite in all of Star Wars… I can only compare Luthen to characters from book media like Bane and Plagueis who ultimately had the vision and acumen we long to possess in our own lives… Tony Gilroy and company have the experience with documentaries of true rebellion in real world situations so they know where to hit and know what it has taken to push past the limits of morality to achieve freedom at any cost… Luthen is always mesmerizing. His subtle nudges to his subordinates to push and prod at the Empire, to force their hand, to escalate “Lets encourage this line of thinking” eve when speaking about their search for HIM!!! Its just brilliant writing, acting, set design, sound, lighting, the gambit… if these came in 3 episode arcs we would all be worrying about our cigarette problem. What an inspiring piece of television, just mesmerizing and better and better after rewatch. Kudos. Thank you guys for recognizing it and having such great insight as well

Kino's speech was pretty good as well. But that's like being the opening act to The Beatles at their height.

I disagree about the speech being the first time Star Wars showed the price of the rebellion as Andor killing his fellow rebel in the beginning of Rogue One was a pretty weighty indication of the price of the rebellion.

Looking forward to learn his backstrory and what happened 15 years prior. Parte of me hopes he is Dooku younger brother

He's so right about the Sistine Chapel. I went to the Vatican when i was young and after that experience- going to any church is a waste of time. Period. There is so much to see there that you literally have to live there. Also Stellan Sarsguard should get Best Supporting Actor of a tv drama series just in that scene alone. I can see scenes from this series being recreated on stage.

Funnily enough, I’ve delivered similar something like this for my dnd group a while ago, when I was doing my damnest and sacrificed everything with my character and someone else who complained about something doing nothing and giving me shit with being an shitty character. I absolutely adored all the things happening during the session as role playing being that person as the shitheel delivering everything to achieve greater good as a sacrifice grand schemed for the future like Luthen is giving for him. Hit me extremely hard today and greatly appreciate writers doing the show.

Sometimes the Midnight Boys are a hard listen but this is a fantastic clip.

At most we have gotten a hanfull of great monologues in SW, where the actors just have mostly explanatory dialouge, oneliners and punchlines to drive the story forward.

Luthen is clearly ex Jedi that turned to the dark side to defeat the empire motivated by revenge after order 66. Listen to his speech at the at the end of episode 10. He was literally saying that without using the words the "force" or "Jedi". What did he sacrifice? Inner peace, calm, love, kinship...the light side. His mind a sunless space...Dark. 15 years ago, when order 66 was issued, his life was dedicated to an equation, kind of a pre determined destiny the sort Jedi sought ro achieve. He is motivated by anger, to use violence, anything to achieve his goal, to care about no one in the process. He is DAMNED to use the tools of his enemy...the dark side. What did he sacrifice??? EVERYTHING! Clearly the words of a Jedi in this situation. Now he has a spaceship with red lightsaber tech slicing through tie fighters. Dude exudes cool jedi badassery. He is a man who can foresee his destiny in a way only Jedi seem to know. And he has kyber crystals. I think he is on a Obi Wan Kenobi path to sacrifice himself to distract the empire from Mon Mothma to save her so she can play her part in the rebellion.

Besides, he's not some ordinary guy like Kino or Andor, so we can cut him some slack: In all his time waiting in his shop to hear secret messages of this or that plan working out, or failing, I expect he's had more than enough time to put into words all the sacrifice he's making for the galaxy.

I understand and I do agree with the feelings everyone expresses about the speech but na...this show was just a mistake. Nothing about it actually felt like star wars besides the planets and hearing certain names but this was def not star wars. If you want more of this and less of the lightsaber action, myths and stories about the force, stories of other force users and even mandolorians or anything that we've seen in ep 1-6, I'm sorry but you're not here for star wars. Everything you don't want IS star wars. You're not really that much of a star wars fan bro
