That “Brescia manager” was Carlo Mazzone. The soccer world owes him a great debt - ask Pep Guardiola exactly how much he learned from Mazzone. Don’t forget it! And great vid. Pirlo is easily my favorite midfielder of all time.

Pogba might not be even comparable to Pirlo but he’s starting to play the similar regista role under ole at cdm. He’s not super defensive (like pirlo) and his strength is sending long balls to opponents in a deep positon so he can defend safely on the counter attack. Again I’m not saying Pogba is anything near pirlo don’t get mad lol

Yes I'm still angry about Sven sticking Scholes on the left, when he should have built the England team around him. All this chat in the gutter press (Sun, Mail, Star, Guardian) about whether Gerard or Lampard was the best midfielder, when the answer was always so obvious. It was Scholes by a mile. Utterly useless...

First time watched him in UCL 2003. Remembered some of his passes vividly. In WC 2006, people were talking more about Zidane (justifiably) & Cannavaro (he was the best defender that year), but in my heart, Pirlo was the reason for La Nazionale win that year. That pass to Grosso. His low shot from outside the box against Ghana. His consistent deliveries & passes in the final. 3 MOTM. He was the best regista, the best Deep-lying Playmaker for the last 3 decades. Grande Pirlo!

Milans engine was its midfield.. having gilardino was like playing a man down all game.. he was the first big mistake that prevented milan from achieving even more.. seedorf and pirlo were the permanent fixtures and gattuso and ambrosini did the dirty work... miss my team so much..

The manager already put no10 position to no10 Baggio.. u cant have 2players of same type on same position.. and he ia young at that time, and Baggio were to old to ask the defend role as he is.. more easy to change and to said a word to younger players coz he need to learn more and need time to play much.. but its true his tole as deep playmaker is similar as Guardiola at Brescia..which he can learn more from Pep how to play from deep as playmaker.

Sorry, but I think Pirlo moved to DPM because there was Roberto Baggio at no 10 position. At that times, Brescia had 2 fantasista, so the coach (Mazzone) moved Pirlo deeper to use both of them.
