My heart couldn’t take it when Gini scored the third. There are literally no words to describe the feeling. My friend bought me an old Candy style t-shirt for the final against Real Madrid. He was then admitted to hospital the day before the final. We lost in horrible, cruel, unjust fashion (in my opinion). I say to him then that we’ll make the final again the following season, actually believing we would. When we lost 3-0 at Camp Nou, it was so undeserved, but the defiance was palpable even after the game. There was unfinished business. & that’s what I felt with my friend. We didn’t watch the final together. & what better way than to book flights to Barcelona & a train to Madrid for the final. We hung a Liverpool flag from a balcony in Barcelona for the week before the final & we went to underground cannabis clubs & blasted Jamiroquai from our balcony. We then won the final in Madrid & it ended up being one of the best adventures of my life. This footage allows me to revisit that place, to recall those moments & ultimately feel on top of the world again (which is needed with the way things are at the moment, generally speaking).

Peak Liverpool. Take me back to those days. I stayed up till 4 AM (with work the next day) to watch this match. I remember the buzz carrying me all the way till the end of the day and not feeling sleepy at work at all.

I'm revisting this video after a couple of years. It still makes me emotional to watch because it's my favourite team beating at that time, one of the best teams in the world.
