Changing the display is not the update we need. iPad is held back by the OS not the hardware.

They will never make a surface tab thing with full iPad os. I wish they would though. OLED is a great update.

It would be my dream to have an all-in-one device for creation without the limits of iPadOS and the professional freedom of macOS enabling me to run 3D desktop apps such as blender. I find my iPad 12.9 a little small for painting/sketching, 14" - 16" would be a good size with a pen/touch enabled screen. I currently run my 14" MacBook Pro with a pen tablet and I can safely say that the pen is better than a trackpad, so no real UX issues if that screen was a tad larger. Apple could keep iPadOS on all of the consumer devices below 13" so they would still have the ecosystem. The question is...What's holding them back? Is it corporate greed related to cannibalisation of existing products? Is it control? It doesn't feel like freedom...

I been using the iPad over the last 3 years as my only computer. At first it was limited but now with stage manager and updates to the files apps it can do almost everything I need much faster and more fun than my laptop. It will never match the functionality of Mac OS since its had more time to refine it but eventually I’m sure iPads will have Mac OS on them.

I’m thinking the new 12.9” iPad Air. I pretty much just watch UKposts,other social media, and play games. But I really like the idea of the bigger screen. I have a 2020 iPad Pro 10.9”. I don’t know if it would be worth the added expense for the 12.9” iPad Pro unless it can replace my Windows laptop

OLED on the Pros will be nice. Pencil 3 could be nice. The rest is really just whether you want/need to get an iPad at this point in time. I have iPads that are reaching the end of their support so I’ll upgrade them, but the others will stay in use. FWIW, I use iPads to avoid using my laptop whenever possible. iPads don’t replace laptops, but they are very capable supplemental items. I actually think videoconferencing is better on iPads so the landscape camera will be appreciated. The keyboard really needs to be closer to the combo touch models from Logitech so the iPad can be fully protected whether using the keyboard or not. Looking forward to the release.

Apple needs to break free of the notion that everyone will own an iPad in addition to a Mac laptop. I would love to use an iPad as my day to day main machine, even for video and photo editing. To do this, they need to greatly improve the OS.

You still need a Mac to reset your iPad if something goes wrong with the OS during a software update. That’s not the case with MacBooks.

I cant even think about another iPad Pro feature upgrade other than horizontal sided front camera and maybe new OLED displays. At his point the more usefull upgrade should be from the software side😀

I have an M1 IPad Pro 12.9 “ with mini LED display, I’m interested in any new M3 iPad with at least 16GB Ram. I want more windowing capabilities via StageManager and. Landscape camper for Face ID

With the updates forth coming, for the iPad Pro models they should have the M3 Pro chips in them. Especially since they are “Pro” models. The Air’s are next to them and they should have the M3 in them. I’m good with that! 😁 I currently have the 11” M1 iPad Pro and thinking about switching to a bigger screen iPad so I am looking forward to what’s coming!

A bigger trackpad! I want a magic keyboard with no trackpad. I hate stretching my fingers over to reach the keyboard. I like to rest the heel of my palm on the desk/table or a bit lower over the edge. That way I engage my shoulders less. My MS portable keyboard is getting pretty old now and they no longer manufacture it. But it has always worked really well. I was hoping to eventually replace it with a trackpad-less Magic Keyboard but there doesn’t appear to be one in the works.

"Regular" 120Hz OLED on iPad Mini would make it the ultimate mobile gaming device. And M3 or at least A17 Pro with a 16GB RAM option. Why 16GB RAM? Because I swap between apps and games constantly and I dont wanna risk being kicked out of a game because iPadOS decided to kill it

@@phillipbanes5484 When you scroll it looks jittery. If you haven’t had anything with 120hz then that’s why you don’t notice. You’re probably used to 60hz. Once you go higher you can’t go back cuz it’ll bother the crap out of you lol. 😂

Regardless of hardware upgrades, iPad OS is the only thing holding it back. Give Mac OS to the iPad Pro and that's a game-changer.

The iPad is still the iPad. People make a big deal about OLED, but that does not bring substantial features to the OS. Like what will the M3 iPad Pro be able to do over my M2? Little to nothing. And what exactly is so wrong with the XDR display on the current models? Literally nothing. No professional is truly working from these for the most part. Just my opinion as an iPad user. I use my 12.9 pro more than any tech i own

I was about to upgrade my mom's 7 year old iPad mini but I decided to wait maybe they will indeed update it with an M series chip this year. I need my mom's next iPad mini to last up to 10 years. 😀

Sounds like a new rumor came out this AM that points to the A17 Pro landing on the iPad mini. I wish it was the M-series!

The new features are nice but if Apple wants the iPad to keep any kind of relevance it needs to allow a full advanced OS in it. Otherwise, the appeal will always be limited. It’s time to make a jump not a leapfrog…

Once again apple not listening to customers. Yes having upgraded screens and such is nice but they need to make the software much better. I wouldn’t even give 1 thought to a new iPad Pro if there was no thought given to revamped software optimization for the iPad. I have an m1 iPad 12.9. This thing is great but why get a new iPad for an OLED screen? Seems dumb… mini LED is good enough and the camera placement doesn’t bother me as much as others. Idk it would just be nice for apple to listen to customers for once in their existence

Who really cares if there is more power and a better display if you still lack the ability to do more with it? And this is coming from someone who uses the iPad Pro m1 as a daily driver. I love the IPad but putting a little clearer of a display and a better Magic Keyboard that Apple can charge me another $$$ for? That goes in the big, fat “I don’t really care” column. And again, I stress that I really love the IPad but they have not done anything to warrant an upgrade from the M1 12.9.

Hell, im on the 2020 11 inch ipad pro and I see no reason tp upgrade either Someone I know has the 11inch pro from 2018 and even that works perfectly well For most users theres no need to upgrade, these upgrades are very niche and pointless but Apple is running out of things to do without cannibalising macbook sales

@@burgir9985 Just because Apple releases a new tablet, doesn't mean everyone needs to upgrade it. But Apple does have to have new models available for people that are in need of an upgrade. 2020 isn't very old at all! Apple adds most new features via software that benefit everyone.

I am most excited by the prospect of a new iPad Mini, but we've been here before, and it failed to materialize. I am least excited about the iPad Pro. All the talked about hardware improvements sound great, but it will still the biggest waste of money going that could never replace your laptop, because iPad OS will cripple that fantastic performing hardware to live in a walled garden ecosystem of mostly mediocre smart phone apps. At lease on an inferior Google Pixel Tablet, you can format external SSDs / memory cards, run VMs and emulators, should you wish! I will be replacing my disappointing M1 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a Windows 11 arm tablet computer with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite. It will perform like a 2024 iPad Pro but will have a desktop class OS.

I bought basic iPad 9th gen because of cheaper price. I was shocked how uncomfortable it is to use on bed, sofa. There is something wrong about finding right angle between the 10.2 inch screen and eyes. With smaller size of display it is much easier to look at it from different angles without eye strain and neck strain. My body feels uncomfortable viewing 10.2 display on bed, sofa. That is why I’m mostly using my iPad on a desk which doesn’t make sense because I bought it as bed, sofa consumption device. I held iPad Mini in shop environment and really loved how comfortably it sits in one arm. I’m sure that you can comfortably use it on bed, sofa just like a smartphone. Those big 12.9 inch iPads are definitely desktop devices with a powerful desktop processor in that regard they should operate desktop OS.

I have always been an Apple fan and never owned anything Samsung, but I feel like switching over to Samsung because their software is just way more advanced for productivity. As Apple fans, we have to admit that Samsung is leaps ahead of Apple (except in the Mac/laptop line up). The fact that we are all excited about an OLED display while Samsung has had it for a couple of years and now are on AMOLED displays (which is even better) shows you exactly our problem. I have the IPad Air, it does the job but at bare minimum and feel trapped to some level. I may jump to a Pro line up (which may not even solve the productivity limitation due to software) or switch over my iPhone 14 pro max to S24 Ultra and pair up with the S9 Ultra Tab, but either way will keep my M1 MacBook Pro. Either way, it’s nice to experience both these ecosystems. I feel like if I jump to Samsung, I won’t really miss out on anything major for Apple. iOS has always been iOS and it’ll be there if and when Apple fans return.

Apple's not going to upgrade the ipad Pro's until this summer. Reason why is because the iPad Air has been on sale for a while at $449 for the 64GB and the iPad 10th Gen for $350. The ipad Pros have not had sales other than $50 off. So that's a big sign that they are not upgrading the Pros right now. I think Apple will drop the new ipad Air, 10th gen, and mini this week and there will be no Apple Events. Apple hasn't had the spring event since 2021. The OLED Pros will be this summer. That's my prediction.

How is the iPad Mini "showing it's age"? Is there something you'd ike to do on it that it is incapable of? Frankly, the M-chips are absolute battery hogs and I pray Apple does not add them to the iPad Mini ro the iPhone until they've improved battery life. 🐷🪫
